Chapter 3, Black kitty boy

"Have you ever heard the phrase ' avoid black cats'?" Mr. Misaki's words rang through Setsuka's mind after he had left the girl with the strange childish girl and the unconscious boy. Sitting on a chair across from the couch where the boy slept she couldn't help but wonder why. Mr. Misaki had said the boy was dangerous and if he woke up to press the red button by the door immediately. 

Yet instead of the boy looking dangerous to her, he reminded her of a back stray cat she had she had encountered many years ago. Back when she was still happy with her mother and younger sister, even her father. The cat had been a small thing, hissing each time she tried to grow near. Scratching her and becoming a grumpy mean kitty. It took her so many tries before the stubborn cat would sit beside her silently and months later allow her to pet him. The cat was only angry at the world for the way it had been treated for so long it had lost trust in humans. Yet inside it was very lonely. 

Setsuka had loved the grumpy strange black cat but soon they had been forced apart when her father had taken the cat away the day after her father had started experimenting on her. The cat had grown frightened and scratched her hand when she had tried to pet it. Her father in rage for the cat damaging his forming masterpiece and took the cat outside in the rain. Later she had snuck out only to find the small poor creature on the muddy ground dead. Setsuka never once again tried to grow close to another animal or person. She had killed that poor dear cat of hers. 

Staring at the boy now she couldn't help but see how similar the two were. The boy's dark hair reminded her of the cat's own shiny dark fur. Standing up Setsuka ignored the strange pigtailed girl who seemed to be in her own weird world playing with the boy's mask. Standing in front of the boy she stared silently at him before reaching out a hand to feel his hair. Just as her fingertips were about to touch the top of his head, his eyes opened sharply looking up at her. Her eyes widening as he grasped her wrist before in a swift movement found herself laying underneath him on the couch. Staring up at his red eyes her breath hitched slightly at the intensity in them. Like wild flames.

"Answer me in five seconds. If you don't I'll burn your hair. Who are you?" Natsume asked her in a demanding voice as he kept her down by pressing a hand down against her collar while the other gripped on to her strands of hair. His mind still recalling how easily she seemed to control him with just her voice.  The way he had heard her in his mind before losing conscious. 

"Your eyes are exactly the same." The girl beneath him muttered out as she gazed into his eyes with a strange calmness in her own. Confused by her words before he could do anything else a crashing sound was heard before Ruka came flying in from one of the windows. 

"You're late," Natsume called out to the boy who gave him a look of irritated disbelief. 

"Whose fault do you think that is? Natsume." Ruka said as he pushed himself off the floor. Mikan who had been watching in disbelief and shook let out a loud gasp-making a run for the button they had told them to press in case of emergencies. 

"Damn." Ruka cursed under his breath catching sight of the pigtailed girl before a voice spoke out.

"Stay there. Mikan." Setsuka spoke out in a clear tone her voice seeming to echo in Mikan's head as soon as the girl spoke out her name.  She suddenly felt stuck unable to move or do anything else. Shocked the two boys gazed down at the girl, Natsume's eyes widen ever so slightly as he noticed the new dullness in them as they seemed to give off a purplish-red glow different from their silver-blue they had been only minutes ago.

"You should go," Setsuka said the two boys, turning to Natsume who frowned getting off the girl not without noticing the strong smell of roses the girl carried or her how cold her skin felt.
