I open my eyes to a void of darkness. At first, I have no idea if I'm alive. As I sit up in bed I notice the faint glow of moonlight through the curtains. The clock reads four fifty-nine in the morning, just in time to turn off my alarm. Everyone else in the house is still fast asleep; I don't like to wake them, but I enjoy waking up early. As I stand, a sharp pain shoots through my entire body, and there's a bright flash of white. I'm falling... falling. It seems an eternity has passed; I open my eyes to find myself in my favorite hammock on the back patio. I look at my watch; it says that it's a quarter 'till five. At the time I told myself it was just a dream, you know, the weird one that makes zero sense, but now... more on that later.
