It was dark and calm. There wasn't a sound, even though the mansion was in a forest, it never seemed real. There was no wind, no animal, no one. Selene grew up in that mansion, away from people. In fact, she never met anyone else, besides that monster that called himself father and his experiments.
That night, it was raining. There was still no sound. Through that mist, you couldn't see much. A bolt of lightning struck the mansion, and it exploded.
Selene was sitting beside a tree, out of breath. The escape was more brutal than she thought. She knew that she's about to die, but that monster was dead as well, so it doesn't matter. Selene smiled as her soul slowly slides away.

Selene woke up in a strange land. Her body felt sour. This isn't possible, she thought, there is reincarnation, but this is beyond that. This is something different. In the Noctis universe, the dead will be reincarnated. Their memory of their previous life will be erased and their soul sent into a newborn's body. In Selene's case, this never happened before. Her soul took over someone's body who just died... And she still has her memory.
She smiled sadly, that memory was one of the things she wanted to lose forever. It doesn't matter anymore. If life gives me a second chance, I'm going to use it well. Selene didn't know that this decision changed everything.
