"With all my heart, I love you baby. Stay with me and you will see my arms will hold you baby. Never leave, cause I believe in this loooveee, sweet loovvee."

I stroked his mini fro as I softly sung one of our favorite songs to him.

It was day seven of Trey being in this hospital and he still hadn't woke up.

The doctors said his brain was showing signs of improvement, however, they still had no clue as to if or when he would wake up.

Although the thought of him never waking up terrified me beyond belief, I had to remain calm and rely on God. He was the only one that could see us thru this.

I'd done some research of my own to see what helps coma victims come to faster and had discovered that talking, reading, and singing helped stimulate brain activity. Therefore, I'd been talking to him nonstop and reading him every piece of literary, stimulating reading material I could find.

Since I technically couldn't sing, I'd tried to shy away from that part until this I realized that more than likely the thing that would help more than anything. He was a musician, so here I was, singing our favorite Anita Baker song all off tune hoping he could hear how desperately I needed him to wake up.

"Hear you calling out my name and I feel no shame, I'm in love. Sweet looveeee, don't you ever go away. It will always be this way."

"You hear me baby? You can't go away. I need you." I whispered before kissing his temple.

"Hey babe, how's the patient?" April asked coming inside his room.

"Hey," I said smiling weakly, "he's doing about the same, no new developments."

She went over on the opposite side of the bed and kissed his forehead, "Good morning big baby."

All that replied to her was the sound of the beeping monitor right above his head.

"You wanna go home and freshen up, maybe see the baby, get a nap in?" She offered, "I'll stay until you get back."

I shook my head vigorously.

"I'm not leaving him."

"Cyn, it's okay. I'll be here." She said consolingly.

"I can't leave him." I said looking in her eyes.

Her eyes watered and she finally nodded.

"I understand." She replied.

There was silence among us as I grabbed his hand and brought it up to my mouth to kiss it.

"I wanna take a second just to say thank you." She said out of the blue.

I was taken aback.

"For what?"
