This is a modern day based story. And if any who read this have any sort of artistic ability I encourage you to send me a picture of a drawing of the main character, Joseph. I'll include a description in the chapter below. Any who decide to send me something, tell me in the comments. And please try to keep it from looking like the black butler. I'll send you an email address for you to send me a pic later on. With that said, to the story!!

The air was cold as I sat on the rooftop of one of the buildings in Washington. My scope was starting to fog up from the heat radiating from my face. 'Only a few more minutes. Then I'll be able to head back to the mansion and finish supper.' I thought to myself as I was starting to grow impatient. I had been sitting in this position for nearly two hours and I was catching a serious cramp. I've always preferred the more direct approach but was specifically told to use a rifle and set of bullets left on the roof for me. Sitting on a roof for two hours leaves you little to do other than wonder about your instructions. I was to shoot a politician for another politican, and I was almost certain that the bullet I was using was able to be traced back to yet another poitician. Leaving my employer no competition for the office.
Finally my target walked out. I was told not to kill him, but to make it where he wouldn't be able to run for the office in the next few months. The two hour wait had a few advantages as well. It gave me time to think of a good area to target in order to cripple his chances of running. Head=death, Heart=death, lung=possible death. The only place I could think of was the throat. If I hit him just right and there were medical staff nearby he could survive. And he can't speak to run for the job. Another upside of the situation was that he was going to be speaking at a hospital. He just finished his speech and was just now leaving due to the massive amount of people who wanted to tell him he had their vote. If I wasn't being paid to take him out he would've had mine too.
I took the shot, left the evidence as I was instructed, and disappeared into the frenzy of people trying to escape the crossfire. I always left a mark where I had been employed so while I was waiting earlier I left a note saying 'You had my vote.' and left it in his coat pocket as he was carried by me on a stretcher.

I made it back to the mansion about an hour later. I spoke to the other butler, Raymond, who said the food would be ready in twenty minutes so I went ahead and set the table. It was a large family that I cared for. Three teenagers, their parents and aunt & uncle, and the children's grandparents. None of whom were home yet. Most of them had gone to visit the children's mothers parents for the weekend, while the kids, aunt, uncle, and grandparents went to see the Grand Canyon. They would all be home any minute. I didn't do it all myself of course. There was another butler and three maids. It was just me and one other maid, Lisa, but it proved too much work for the two of us alone so the family hired the rest of them. Altogether it was, Lisa, Raymond, Sylvia, Rose, and myself, Joseph, taking care of them.
Lisa was here before myself. She told us many stories of how she remembers changing Roy, Ray, and Rain's daipers. They were the first children of the mansion. Their father, Robert, recruited me after he found out I wasn't into the normal line of business and offered me a job protecting the family. I accepted under the exception that I was still allowed to take side jobs on occasion. Only he knows of our arrangement so any time I leave he comes up with an errand for me to run. His wife,Lory, never really got along with me. I never really was sure why but she always thought I was peeking in on her changing clothes.
The young people of the family were Sarah, Joey, who was named after me, and Elise. Sarah being the oldest at sixteen and Elise being the youngest at ten. Joey was three years in between. I heard the vehicles pull into the driveway so I went to the nearest mirror to make sure I was presentable. I combed through my short brown hair and adjusted my rectangular polarized glasses that covered my nuclear green eyes from view. I was clean shaven and just finished my bow tie as the door cracked open.
Raymond was there to greet them, Sylvia took their coats and hats, Rose had their plates ready, and Lisa was always there t0 help with refills and seconds. Robert looked at me and shook my hand warmly as he asked, "Did you pick up my dry cleaning?" which was our code for, "Are you done with your mercenary work for a while?" I smiled and replied with, "Already put it in your closet sir. Please sit and enjoy your meal." Once the entire family was seated Raymond went ahead and explained the elaborate dish he had prepared for them today. This was mine and Roses cue to leave to the kitchen and wait for one of them to ask for dessert.
"Man I wish I could get an errand outside of this mansion sometimes!" Rose complained. "How come you get them all the time?" I shrugged my shoulders and said, "I just always have. When it was just me and Lisa, Lisa took the intdoor work while I took outdoor work. Why do you want to leave anyway? This mansion is huge and theres no way you've been to every room." I inquired. "I just get tired of the same walls and corridors. Plus I really need some fresh air." I thought of a way to solve this problem of hers when an obvious answer hit me. "I get Bobs clothes done once a week. How about I take you next week. Get you out of this place for a little while?" She seemed to be thinking before her expression went from thoughtful to inquisitive. "What day do you usually do it?"
"Tuesday." I replied simply. "Ok I can do that. I just gotta remember to wash the windows once we get back." I smiled at the fact that I could make Rose happy again. With her being the youngest of the help she was always the most energetic. Lately she had been walking a little slower, smiling a little less, just... less all around really. Maybe this was what she needed to get back to normal. "Just put an alarm on your phone. It's 2015! Plus I think this is exactly what you need to get back to normal." She was about to ask what I meant about back to normal when we heard the bell signaling for dessert so we both shut up and 'proppered' up.

So I decided to start this story up. I've had it in my mind for a little while now but just now decided to type something. I've had this kind of character in my mind for a while but didn't want to type anything because I have another story going as well. I finally got the inspiration I needed from the Black Butler anime on Netflix. I will do what I can to not copy that show. If any of you have seen it then you will know if I copy anything. And again, if anyone reading this has artistic skill then tell me. Hope you enjoyed the chapter, and have had an amazing day.
