Mom and I finally finished unpacking from our move to Brooklyn; Dad had already left for work. That man never takes a break. The apartment that we had just moved into wasn't too far from Dad's work or school, and there was a playspace nearby for the nice weather days.
Mom left to go finish getting groceries when I hear a knock on the door. I answer it.
"Hello?" I say as I open the door. What greeted me on the other side of the doorway was truly a sight to behold. Standing there were two boys about my age, one with dark hair and a smirk that would make any girl swoon, and the other. The other—he was smaller, with the most magnificent blue eyes and perfect blonde hair.
"Hi, we saw you moving in and decided to come down and say hi, to welcome you to our lovely neighborhood," the brunette boy says.
"T-thanks," I replied, hesitant about strangers, but something feels...right...about them.
"You could at least introduce us," the blonde says, elbowing the brunette in the ribs. I chuckle.
"Oh, right. I'm James, but you can call me Bucky. And this is my best pal, Steve."
"Well, hello then Bucky, Steve. I'm y/n. Pleasure to meet you."
"The pleasure's all ours," Bucky responds. "What brings you to Brooklyn?"
"It's a bit of a long story..."
"We've got all the time in the world," Steve says, smiling gently at me.
I smile back, feeling myself blushing furiously. "Well then... We moved because—"
"JAMES BUCHANAN BARNES! YOU GET BACK HERE THIS INSTANT!" an angry female voice shouts from a distance.
Bucky grins sheepishly and scratches his neck. "Shit, looks like we've been caught. Gotta go. It was nice to meet you, y/n. See you later?"
"Sure thing Bucky. You know where to find me." I smile and wave as he walks away. Steve stays in the doorway, looking down at the ground.
"Steve? Are you okay? Is there something?" His head pops up, as if he forgot what was happening.
"W-what? No, everything's fine. I...I better go too. He needs me to keep him out of trouble." He slightly chuckles. SO CUTE!!!!
I chuckle, smiling back at him but sad he has to go. "See you later?"
"Yeah, see you later," he says as he waves goodbye and walks into the direction Bucky had vanished. I close the door and lean against it, my heart beating so loud I can hear and feel it in my ears. Those two are going to be the death of me, or at least my heart. My mind goes back to the blonde. Steve...
I finally calm down by the time Mom gets back home. I help her put the groceries away, and I tell her about the new visitors. She's excited that I already have friends.
How was I to know how crazy my life would get after meeting them.
