Hey, just to let ya know, Lu's outfit ^
"Come on mom, we'll be late!" I said as I ran down the steps, slipping on the last step and falling on my butt. My thick, long, rosy-red hair falls over my face and I huff, sitting on the floor. My mom walked around the corner and saw me sitting on the floor, rubbing my sore butt. "Well now. This is what happens when we rush." She says while chuckling lightly.
My mom is in her late 50s and slightly overweight, which makes her all the better for some reason. She's very sweet and loving, but she is also strict and serious at times. Mainly when she's stressed out.. soo, all the time really.
Even through all of this she still somehow finds time for me and my brother.
My brother is three years older than I am, 20, and looks exactly like my mother. He's got her dark, almost black, hair and dark brown eyes to match. He's in college, but he stays at home rather than living in campus, which means he's always around.
Me on the other hand, I'm a bit different. I'm 17. Naturally my hair is a light brown (up until I died it red at the end of the school year) and hazel brown-green eyes. I really look nothing like my mom and brother, instead I take more after my grandmother.
Now, back to the story.
My mom pulls me up off the ground and I immediately begin our checklist. My mom sighs. "Slow down, your gonna hurt yourself." She chuckles. "Yeah, well I'd much rather be hurt than late." I glare back at her.
Me and my mom have a... unique relationship with one another. We're not always the 'perfect mother-daughter' that everyone sees when we're outside. And recently, our irritation with each other has began to shine through letting others around us see it.
We have issues, yeah, but at the end of the day we do love each other very much. And even when we're fighting I refuse to let her leave to go anywhere without a hug. As sad as the thought is, you never know when you might never see that person again. So I put our differences aside for a two second hug.
Today me and my mom are finally going to a Shawn Mendes concert! Plus a met & greet, which I'm absolutely terrified for, yet super excited. I've been wanting to go since freshman year, but come on I mean, who has money for that!
So we finally saved enough money to go. Jeez Mr. Mendes sure seems to think we fart money or something.
"Alright, do you have everything?" My mom asks as she walks up behind me with my last suitcase. I slowly count our baggage, spinning slowly around in the foyer. "Yup.." I say slowly, 'cause are you ever truly sure? I'm not.
All of the sudden, my brother comes into the room. It's a Saturday and he stayed home from his college activities to say goodbye to me and mom. Sweet, right? Pah, not always.
"Bye guys." He says kissing my moms cheek and, for once, giving me a tight hug. Shocked, I stood there for a second before realizing what was happening and I hug him back. "Bye bro." I say, a fake tear slipping down my cheek, using my finger to indicate the tear, as we pull away. "Big baby." He replies. We all laugh as we turn to walk out the front door.
Once our bags are all packed, me and my mom wave to my brother as we pull away and he steps back inside the house. We live in Indiana, and we're heading to California. Not a very quick trip, but I'm sure it'll be worth it. I hope..
Once we get to the airport, there weren't a lot of people there so we boarded quickly. Once we get into the plane and settled in, I squeeze my moms hand tightly. "Hey, it'll be okay." She reassures me. I've never been in a plane before, but my mom has. Let's just say she hasn't had very good experiences with planes.
