THE INCIDENT

*phone ringing*
           4:30 am I wake up to my phone ringing. I rub my eyes and look at the caller ID. The name reads Maggie. All I can wonder is why my boyfriends mom is calling me. I pick up the phone quickly. "Hello?" I say with my raspy voice. "Oh thank god you picked up em" she says so fast I can hardly understand her, but hearing the fear in her voice . "What's going on Maggie?" I say not wanting to fully know the answer.
"Em Brody is in the hospital, we just got here. You need to get here quick." Maggie says as her voice is breaking. "What happened." I say loudly not noticing my volume. "I'll tell you once your here, Emberly please hurry!" She says almost at the same volume as me.

As soon as she hangs up the phone I jump out of bed to try and get dressed quickly. My mind is racing with all sorts of thoughts. I immedietly remember that she is there alone since her husband, Brody's dad passed only 8 months ago from a heart attack.

I grab a big t-shirt to throw over my tiny body and Throw on some shorts next to my bed. I grab my purely white shoes and head out the door with my mind still racing. I leave the house without telling anyone, I'm to focused on Brody. I get into my pretty black car and speed down my road trying to get there as fast as possible. The hospital is only 15 minutes away but that seems so long with my mind racing with the worst thoughts.

I feel like I'm in some sort of horror movie, I can't possibly think of what could have happened to him. Tears start to hit the brim of my eyes but I do everything in my power to hold them back.
As soon as I arrive to the hospital I park in the first spot I find, I start running towards the building, which oddly feels like one of those dramatic scenes from a movie. As soon as I enter there is a nurse asking me if I'm okay, "yes I'm fine will you just please tell me where Brody long is!" I say intensely out of breath. "Uh dear I am so sorry to stop you but I just need to make sure you are family?" she says softly "Oh, Uh yeah im his girlfriend!" I say almost stumbling the words "Honey, unfortunately you have be immediate family" she says softly. I instantly start sobbing and feel the anger rise in me. "I need to see him!" I express angrily. "Okay dear, I understand. Let me call Ms. Maggie up here real quick." she says in a very calm voice. Soon maggie walks up and talks to the nurse, "Okay dear, you can go with Ms. Maggie." the nurse tells me kindly. "thank you." I say with remorse for yelling at her earlier.
