What if when Mike was young he was one of the five kids but escaped. Getting found by a new family, they take him to the restaurant. He doesn't recognize it but the other four kids haunting the mascots remember him - the most angry being Foxy. So as Mike approaches Foxy, he bites out his frontal lobe. Over the years, Mike remembers the kidnapping and murders and, wanting to see his friends again, takes the job. His frontal lobe is missing, so even though his old friends are angry at him for escaping and are obviously trying to kill him, he thinks they are playing hide and seek so he stays.
