PART ONE: LOST
May I steal your heart?
May I protect that heart?
If I fall several times and get hurt, will you accept my surrender?
Sir yes sir!
I salute to you.
I swear on your name.
I'm not playing around, I'll put my life on the line.
I will protect you.

Kihyun woke up and the first thing he saw was a grey sky and white flakes falling from it. He wondered if it was snow, but he shook his head. It wasn't possible for it to snow in the middle of May, was it? He didn't know. So he reached out and opened the window; the air hit him like a punch in the jaw. Then he remembered one thing from before his slumber; the bright white flash of light. He didn't know how long he's been out for, but then he realized what had happened. The smell of smoke stained the air and the buildings around him looked ruined. His heart beat started to accelerate. How in the world did he survive this explosion?
Kihyun stopped. He stopped worrying of himself. With his heart beat getting faster, he grew scared of what had happened to his friends and what would happen next. He began to worry of his best friends. Wasting no time, he pulled on his shoes and rushed out of the house and down the cracked stone streets. Left turn, right turn, wait for the military vehicle stop moving, cross the street, left turn, left turn. He stopped again, this time in front of his friend's house. The air smelled of blood of smoke and what seemed to be ashes rained from the sky like snowflakes. Kihyun didn't bother to knock on the wooden door, instead he let himself in. It was almost like a second home to him.
He shoved the door of his friend's bedroom wide open with a bang it dented the wall near it like every other time he's done that. "Changkyun!" He pulled the bed sheets away from his sleeping friend. "Get up! Get up!" He hauled his friend to his feet and smacked his cheeks to wake him. "What's the time? And why are you waking me up so early?" Changkyun said to Kihyun sluggishly. "I don't know, man. Just breathe the air outside and see for yourself." Kihyun proceeded to yank the curtains away and push the window open. He then pushed the back of Changkyun's head out the window. Changkyun asked, "What the fuck is this?" And Kihyun replied saying he didn't know.
Throwing a pair of white shoes at Changkyun he told him to hurry to Jooheon's house down the cracked asphalt road. In the distance there was a scream and a cry and there were stains of blood going down the streets. People were running around like the world was about to end.
Amidst the haze of smoke and the fall of ashes and screams of torment they went door to door to get all their friends. All their eyebrows tightly knit together in fear and worry. There was still one friend left. "What about Hyungwon?" Minhyuk asked. "He'll sleep till the end of time if we don't wake him." Police officers and military men passed them in their dark uniforms as the boys made their way down the twisting broken streets.
Minhyuk was first to race to Hyungwon's bedroom when they made it to the house. Military jeeps passed, the officers inside them eyed at the group of boys. Minhyuk came with Hyungwon clunking down the stairs in his heavy white boots. Only then did it strike Kihyun when he didn't know what day it was. He knew the month was May, he knew the... At least he thought he knew what year it had been, but he doesn't. And so he pulled his friends back down the streets, looking for a cellphone or a newspaper, a TV. Something, anything that could tell him what the day and year was.
As they ran, they heard what people were saying. It was mostly random snippets. And lots of screaming. They saw bloodied corpses, fallen in houses and more officers. And they aw their school building had cpmpletely collapsed into a pile of nothingness. There were some trees lit ablaze with red fire. There also was a dead cat. The grass, too was scorched and smoking from whatever had burned it previously. ''What's happening?" Kihyun asked. ''Could there have been an earthquake?" Hyunwoo shrugged his massive shoulders. ''It looks like it, but I don't think that's it.'' His chest heaved as he placed his hands on his hips, ''I think we should find a shelter.'' There was a chorus of agreement from the boys.
