Chapter 1

"Rantaro, repair the stabilizers. Ken, Valt, Tell them we are coming to their rescue! Shu, be careful!" Sora yelled to her fellow cadets. "On it!" Rantaro replied. "Attention cargo shuttle, we are coming to get you." Valt said through the communicator. "Shu watch that overhang." Sora warned. "You forget how long I've been flying." Shu said. He steered the shuttle through the gap in the mountain. "Got the stabilizers fixed!" Rantaro said proudly. The shuttle had stopped shaking and they were able to land next to the broken cargo shuttle. "Simulation completed." The computer's voice sounded through the simulator. The doors opened allowing the cadets out. "You see that's how you work as a team. This is why these five are at the top of their classes." Commander Iverson said in his gruff voice. They left as soon as the next team was put in the simulator. "Why do we have to do that everyday?" Valt wined. "I think Iverson just wants to see if he can find fault in us like he did with Lance's group." Rantaro replied. "Why Don't we get some fresh air? It seems Valt needs some." Sora said as she noticed Valt fidgeting again. I wonder what happened to them. Sora though as they walked through the doors to the outside world. A few days ago, some kind of ship had crash landed near the Garrison. Lance and his team had gone missing a few minutes later. The day after a Blue Lion had been seen flying into space at a speed unaccomplished by current Garrison shuttles. It looked like Lance was flying it. He tried so hard to show off to his team, and that got them all in trouble. Sora thought. "Hey Valt! Where are you going?" Ken yelled, snapping Sora out of her thoughts. She turned to see Valt running farther into the desert with the rest of the team following. Sora took off running after them, quickly catching up. Minutes passed and Valt still hadn't stopped, the Garrison had long disappeared from sight. Ken and Rantaro were tiring out from running so long but Valt kept going. "Come on guys, keep going." Sora encouraged the blonde and black haired boys. Valt eventually stopped in front of a cave pretty much in the middle of nowhere. Sora walked up to the bluenette. "Hey Valt, what's the big idea? Why are we out here?" Sora asked. "I don't know exactly but I think there's something in here." Valt replied before walking in. The rest followed him into the dark cave, paintings and carvings of some kind of lion were on the walls. Valt being curious touched one and they glowed purple. "I'm pretty sure carvings and paintings don't do that!" Shu yelled. The ground caved in beneath them, casing them to fall several feet until they landed in a puddle of water. "Woah, that thing is huge!" Valt yelled, his voice echoing off the cave walls. Sora looked up to see a giant purple lion with some kind of force field around it. They walked towards it and stopped in front of the force field. "What is this thing?" Rantaro asked out loud. Valt touched the force field and it began to dissipate before disappearing completely. The lion stood up and roared, suddenly a vision of five lion's appeared. White, Ember, Aquamarine, Crimson, and Purple lions flew in formation before forming a giant robot called Voltron. The vision disappeared before the Purple Lion bent down and opened its mouth. Valt rushed in with Rantaro, Ken, Shu, and Sora following. They reached the Lion's head where there was a pilot's seat with two levers in front along with a console and a black screen. Valt sat down in the seat and it moved towards the levers and console causing him to squeak in surprise. He calmed down and reached for the levers before freezing. "Did you hear that?" Valt asked. "No." The group replied. "I think it's talking to me." Valt continued before grabbing the levers causing the screen in front of him to come on. Through the screen they could see what was in front of the lion as if they were looking through glass. "Ok... Let's try this." Valt said before shoving the levers forward causing the lion to burst through the side of the mountain. It landed upon the ground and began to run. Sora and the rest tightly gripped Valt's seat so they wouldn't fall backwards. The lion took of into the air and began to do flips and twist. "Valt! What are you doing?!" Shu yelled. "I'm not doing it! Its on autopilot!" Valt yelled back. The lion shot straight up and entered space, everyone was amazed at the view. Suddenly a purple light surrounded the lion and pulled it up towards a black and purple ship. "Uh Valt, did you do that?" Rantaro asked in a worried tone. "No." Valt answered. A screen popped up and showed a furry cat like alien with yellow eyes. "Surrender peacefully and I promise your deaths will be short." The cat alien said before the screen shut off. "Death? He gonna kill us?" Valt asked shakily. "Nothing going to happen to us as long as I can help it." Sora said. The lion landed inside the ship, moments later footsteps were heard coming towards the cadets. "Valt, get this lion ready to go." Sora said as she turned towards the footsteps. Valt hurriedly tapped random buttons trying to get the lion to move. The cat aliens reached the head of the lion, the cadets minus Valt who was still trying to get the lion to move stood their ground against them. The cat aliens parted in the middle letting the same one from before to the front. "Well, well, well, what do we have here?" The cat alien said coldly. "Who are you and what do you want with us?" Sora growled. "I am Kyzxak and I want all of your lions. Surrender them to me and your deaths will be short." Kyzxak said. "Nope, no one is dying today if I have anything to say about it!" Sora growled. Kyzxak outstretched his cybernetic arm towards Sora, she dodged out of the way before launching herself at him. Sora fought with all her strength, occasionally dodging his grasp. Ken and Rantaro had been captured while the two fought. Sora heard a yelp of pain from behind her, Shu was being held on the ground while Valt was being jerked out of the seat and forcefully handcuffed. Sora dodged Kyzxak's arm once more before charging at her friends captors. She had almost reached them when something grabbed her from behind and dragged her back. "Guys!" Sora yelled as she was dragged back. Kyzxak turned Sora to face him before throwing her against a wall pretty hard. Sora struggled to pick herself up off the ground before being pinned and handcuffed. They were lead out of the lion and into a dark cell. "We have to get out of here." Sora said as she fought against the cuffs around her wrist. She saw an electrical spark in the corner of the room she walked towards it and put the cuffs next to it. They shorted out and fell off, she then helped the rest out of their cuffs. The door opened revealing a single guard, Sora charged and quickly knocked him out. She lead the group back to the lion, avoiding the centuries along the way. As they entered the hanger they ran into more guards. The cadets ran towards the lion while dodging the lazers from the guns. The lion let them in once more and Valt immediately began to fly out of the ship. "You know for someone who talks a big game, that was easier than I thought." Rantaro said. Valt began to make the lion attack the ship, destroying the tractor beam and any guns they would have had. "Now it's time to get out of here." Valt said as he turned the lion around and flew away from the ship and earth. "Um their chasing us." Ken said fearfully. "Hold on is that Kerberos?" Rantaro asked, pointing to the gray planet. "It takes our ships months to get here while it took us five seconds!" Shu said amazed. Suddenly a wormhole opened in front of them. "I think the lion wants to go through there." Valt said. "What should we do?" Ken asked. "The lion currently knows more than we do, but we should all decide on this like we always have." Sora said. "I vote on going through it." Valt said. "Same here." Rantaro said. "Please, anything to get us away from that ship." Ken said. "That's a yes for me." Shu said. "Then it's decided, let's go." Sora said. "I guess we're missing school tomorrow." Valt said before piloting the lion into the wormhole. On the other side three planets came into view, a screen popped up showing the location of the Ember, Aquamarine and Crimson lion's. "So shall we go get them?" Valt asked. "Go ahead and go to the Crimson Lion." Sora said. Valt piloted the lion towards a rocky planet. They landed on the surface and exited the lion. They walked into yet another cave. Rantaro walked ahead of them and the marking glowed a crimson color and lead them down the tunnel and to the Crimson Lion. "Well, you go first Honcho." Sora said. Rantaro walked towards the lion and touched the barrier, it dissipated and the lion allowed him in. The lion flew out of the cave and towards the Purple Lion. After the rest entered the Purple Lion they flew to the Aquamarine Lion which was on a forest like planet, Ken ended up being its pilot. They landed on the planet of the Ember Lion. It was a very windy and snowy planet. Valt, Rantaro and Ken waited in their lion's while Sora and Shu walked out into the snow, eventually disappearing from their sight. The wind chilled them to the bone making them shiver violently. Shu fell to his knees with a pained gasp, Sora stopped and turned to him. "Just go on without me." Shu said. "No, you can't give up and I will not leave you here." Sora said before helping him back to his feet. They continued walking until they saw the Ember Lion being dragged by more of the cat aliens. "What's the plan?" Shu asked. Sora didn't reply, she was too busy observing how the guards were positioned around the lion. If we approach from the sides, we're dead. Same with the front and the back. Wait, theirs snow drifts around them. How about from above? No wouldn't work. Wait, there is only one guard in the back. If I could knock it out silently then Shu could get in the Ember Lion. Sora thought. "I have a plan. We'll approach from behind, I'll knock out the guard while you sneak into the lion." Sora explained. "That's a pretty good plan." Shu said. They snuck toward the lion and the plan worked until one of the guards spotted Shu near the lion's head. He barely dodged the lasers shot at him. Sora ran toward one of the guards and knocked him out, drawing the rest of the cat aliens attention to her. Who is they were distracted Shu tried to get through the lion's force field. "Hey! Open up! It's me, Shu! Hey!" Shu yelled to the Ember Lion. Sora dodged another laser before getting tackled to the ground. "Sora!" Shu yelled before launching himself at her captor. While the two where defending themselves and each other, the lion activated and roared. It opened it mouth allowing Sora and Shu to enter it. Shu walked towards the pilot's seat and sat down. The seat moved forward toward the levers and console just like the Purple Lion did to Valt. "Let's go." Shu said before shoving the levers forward causing the lion to take off into the air. Within three seconds they had met up with the rest of the team and flew into space. "Ok so the White Lion is the last one we need to get right?" Rantaro asked. "Yeah, and I already know who's going to fly it." Valt said. "I think we all know Valt." Shu said. "But it's not showing up on my map. Wait scratch that, it's on a planet called Arus." Valt said. "Let's go get it then." Sora said. It didn't take long for them to fly to Arus. "We don't know what's here so be on your guard. They landed on the planet, what looked to be a village wasn't very far from them. Sora felt herself being pulled towards a white castle in the distance. "Guys, I think the lion is ether in that castle or near it." Sora said. "We're coming with you, you might need our help." Shu said. Moments later they had flown the lion closer to the castle and hid them behind a nearby wrecked ship. "We need to find a way to that castle without being spotted. Who knows what's in there." Sora said. "Since we are so close maybe Sora could just walk towards the castle and find her lion by herself." Rantaro suggested. Everyone but Sora glared at him. "That's not a bad idea, but I think the lion is in the canyon under the bridge. So I'll need someone to fly me to it." Sora said while looking at the canyon. "Maybe we should just all fly in, you might need all of the lion's to get to it." Shu said. It was decided, the Ember, Aquamarine, Purple and Crimson lions flew into the canyon and stopped at a ledge with a cave. Sora exited the Ember Lion and walked into the cave. Carvings in the wall glowed white leading Sora to the White Lion. She walked into an opening of the cave to see a giant White Lion standing before her. It was definitely bigger than the other lions they had found. The lion activated and roared before bending down and opening it's mouth, allowing Sora to enter. She sat down in the pilot's seat and grabbed the levers and made the lion walk out of the cave and into the open. The lions roared in unison before the White Lion flew out of the canyon with the rest following. They headed for space, leaving the castle behind.. They weren't far before Valt let out a terrified scream, The lions turned to see a blue lion pinning the Purple Lion to the ground of Arus. "I'm coming for yah Valt!" Rantaro yelled before his lion was tackled by a yellow lion. Sora growled in anger before launching her lion at the blue and yellow lions. With a swipe of its paw the White Lion knocked the blue and yellow lions off of its teammates. "You ok Valt?" Sora asked the blue haired boy. "Yeah, I'm good." Three lions Black, Red and Green appeared, shielding the blue and yellow lions from any more attacks from the White Lion. The Ember and Aquamarine lions appeared at the White Lion's side. A screen popped up on Sora's console showing a man with a white and black helmet on and armor to match it. "Who are you and what are you doing here?" The man asked. "We were just leaving before your teammates attacked my friends!" Sora growled. "Where did you get those lions?" The man asked again. "We found them. Now if you excuse us, we'll be leaving now." Sora said before launching her lion into the air, the Purple and Crimson lions rose from their spots on the ground before following the rest. The Black Lion launched at the White Lion and forced it to the ground. "Get off of me!" Sora yelled as she tried to get the lion to move. The Ember Lion attacked the Black Lion allowing the White Lion to get to it's feet. The other lion's began to fight, the Red Lion tackled the Ember Lion, the Green Lion fought the Aquamarine Lion, The Yellow Lion attacked the Crimson Lion, and the Blue Lion the Purple Lion fought. All to protect their leaders. The Black Lion faced the White Lion, they circled each other for a moment. "Why are you and your team attacking us?" Sora asked the Man in the black and white armor. The Black Lion launched at the White Lion, Sora moved her lion to dodge the incoming attack. A screen appeared showing a woman with white hair, blue eyes with pink markings under them. "Palidins please stop fighting!" The woman said, the lions stood still and faced each other. "Shiro, this is the second team of Voltron. My father had mentioned more lions when I spoke to him. These are them, the White, Ember, Aquamarine, Purple and Crimson lions." The woman continued. "Wait, there's another Voltron?" Sora asked. "Yes and apparently the White Lion has chosen you as it's paladin there for making you the leader. Follow Shiro and his team back to the castle and I'll explain." The woman finished. "Fine, but if you attack us again you won't like what comes after." Sora warned. The lions flew into the castle, the Black and White, Red and Ember, Green and Aquamarine, Blue and Purple, and Yellow and Crimson Lions shared a hanger. Sora walked out of her lion and prepared for an attack from the Black Paladin, thankfully it never came. They walked into the control room and come face to face with the woman from earlier and a man with orange hair and a moustache. A door opened revealing Sora's teammates being held captive by the other lions paladins. Sora growled in anger. "Who are you and what do you want with us?" She yelled at the white haired woman. "I am Princess Allura of Altea." Allura answered calmly. "And I'm Coran" The oranges haired man said. "Ok, but that still doesn't explain why my friends are being held captive!" Sora said angrily. "Keith, Lance, Pidge, Hunk let them go now!" Allura yelled at the paladins. They let Sora's friends go and Shu growled at Keith before following the rest to stand beside Sora. Allura suddenly opened a holographic map that filled the room. It showed the locations of all of the lions. "Ok so the White Lion is almost exactly like the Black Lion being the leader of Voltron but is also Fierce, willing to do anything to protect its fellow paladins, is not willing to give up easy, wise, kind and quick on their feet. That's why it chose you to pilot it." Allura said directing the hologram of the White Lion to Sora. "The Ember Lion is agile like the Red lion but it is very protective of the leader of its team, can be temperamental, stand-offish towards strangers, and doesn't trust easy. The Lion is very difficult to master, it is also very protective of it's paladin once it has one. That's why it chose you to pilot it." Allura explained before sending the hologram of the Ember Lion towards Shu. "The Aquamarine Lion is shy, loyal to its friends, highly intelligent, connected to nature, and normally the paladin is very good friends with the paladin of the Purple Lion. That's why it chose you to pilot it." Allura continued before sending the hologram of the Aquamarine Lion to Ken. "The Purple Lion is very playful, cheerful, it can get distracted easily, helps to lift the team up, and can focus in the heat of battle." Allura said as she sent she sent the hologram of the Purple Lion to Valt. "Yep that sounds like Valt." Rantaro said. "The Crimson Lion is the slowest of the lions but makes up for it in armor. It is caring and kind, helps lift the team's spirits in dark times, welcoming to others, willing to help, and protective of the team." Allura said directing the hologram of the Crimson Lion towards Rantaro. "Once these Lions are joined together you will be able to form the second version of Voltron, whose strength equals to that of the original." Allura finished as the holograms of the lions joined together and formed a giant robot. The hologram disappeared and light entered the room again. "So that's why those cat alien thingys wanted our lions. And they also tried to kill us. That kind of makes sense." Valt said. "Wait, you mean the Galra?" Allura asked. "So that's what they're called, when we found the Purple Lion they sucked us up into their ship and they said they were going to kill us." Rantaro replied. "What was the commander's name?" Shiro asked. "Kyzxak, why?" Sora asked. "Because we just formed Voltron and destroyed Sendak's ship." Lance said. "Cool! I can't wait until we can do that Sora!" Valt said bouncing around. "I never got your names." Allura said. "I'm Sora Hagane." Sora replied. "Shu Kurenai." Shu answered. "Rantaro Kiyama, but my friends call me Honcho." Rantaro said. "I'm Keru, the brown one is Besu and the kid is Ken Midori." Ken's blue puppet Keru spoke. "Oh, you're a ventriloquist." Pidge said. "Yep." Besu said. "Names Valt Aoi. Nice to meet you." Valt said before shaking Allura's hand and then Coran's and then the other paladins. When he went to shake Keith's hand, Keith growled at him making Valt back away. "You better be nice to him or else!" Rantaro said. "Or what?" Keith growled. "Or your going to wish you could outrun me." Sora threatened, walking towards him. "I think it's best we get some rest before we all start fighting each other, again." Allura said getting between the White and Red Paladins before they could get into a fight. Shiro and his team left the room leaving Allura with the the new paladins. "I'm going to show you a few things before I show you your rooms. Follow me." Allura said before leaning Sora and the others to a room that had suits of armor. The suits were mostly white but they had accents that match the colors of their lions. After suiting up Allura showed them something called a Bayard. "The Bayard is the traditional weapon of the paladins. Each one is unique to it's paladin." Allura explained. Honcho's turned into a staff, Valt's turned into a sword, Ken's became a whip, Shu's was an axe, and Sora's turned into a katana. "And when you don't need them, they will phase into your suits." Allura explained. Their Bayards disappeared from their hands before Allura lead them to their rooms. Valt's room was beside Lance's room, Sora's room was across from Valt's and next to Hunk's, Honcho's was next to Valt's, Shu's was next to Sora's and Ken's was next to Honcho's. A few minutes after Allura left them alone Valt, Rantaro and Ken were passed out in their rooms. Sora and Shu couldn't fall asleep, Sora entered Shu's room to find him sitting on his bed. "Can't sleep?" Sora asked be fore sitting next to him. "Yeah. Sora, do you think It's a good idea to stay here?" Shu asked. "They seem to know more about these Lions than we do. So, yes." Sora replied. "Well, I'm going to sleep. Goodnight." Shu said. Sora rose to her feet and walked to the door. "Goodnight Shu." Sora said before leaving, entering her room and laying down in her bed. I hope I'm doing the right thing by staying here. Sora thought before falling asleep.
