Ring ring! My alarm clock goes off. I hit the snooze button. I just need five more minutes of sleep before I have to get up and get ready for my first day of junior year. Last year was the worst year of all school years, so I'm hoping this year is better. I get up, and head to the shower. About thirty minutes after I get out the shower, I do my hair and choose my first day outfit. It HAS to be fire. It's what people will remember all year. Plus I need some new pictures for my instagram page.
...
I pull up to my school, The Ville. I spot my best friend Milah as I'm getting out of the Lexus my parents bought me for my sixteenth birthday. "Heyyy," I practically squeal approaching my bestie. "You ready for junior year?" I study Milah's outfit. She's wearing black tights, a black Tupac shirt with a denim jacket, and the Concord 11 lows. "Yeah, let's just hope it's better than last year." Yeah let's just hope so. I give her a little smile and we walk into school getting ready to start a new year.
...
I walk into my first period class, AP English 3. I look at all the the people in my class and I spot someone I've never seen before, and trust me I know everybody at The Ville. He's tall, dark skin, a diamond earring in his left ear, 360 waves, and a perfect white smile. He has his headphones paying absolutely no attention to anybody.
The bell rings and I sit my seat right in the front. Our teacher introduces herself, and gives up a syllabus with all her information, how much assignments are worth in the grade book, and important projects. "Any questions?" she asks us with a big smile. She seems nice, but nice gets you ran over. We all look around waiting on questions, but nobody raises their hand. That's until someone finally does. The no name new kid raises his hand.
"Can I do these projects by myself." He asks with no emotion is his voice. He must be antisocial or maybe he's shy.
"No Mr..." she stares at him waiting for a name. "Jackson, my name is Jackson." he states. "Well Jackson, no you can't. They wouldn't be group projects if you worked individually now would they?" she says still smiling.
He doesn't reply he just looks at her like he's registering what she said. The bell finally rings and I leave for my next class period.
...
It's finally lunchtime hallelujah. I skipped out on breakfast this morning. I see now that was a mistake. I go outside and sit at the tables. A few moments later, Milah, A'Lani but we call her Lani, Zion, Kamryn, and A'lissa sit at the table. We're all on the varsity cheer team except Lissa. She plays soccer. Lissa and A'lani are identical twins but polar opposites.
"So how's school so far?" I ask opening my banana nut muffin. Everybody starts rambling about their classes, what they like, and what they don't. "One at a time people!" everybody stops talking. "Who is that?" Kamryn asks kind of stunned. I turn to see who's she looking at, and it's no name new kid. "Oh that Jackson. He's in my English class." I state with no emotion. "Girl do you see him?" Lissa asks, looking at me like I'm crazy. I don't see what the fuss is about. He's average. "Salem you need to open up your eyes girl because that boy is fine." I roll my eyes at her. I've never really been for relationships after what happened with me and Chris.
Chris is my ex boyfriend and only boyfriend I've ever had. It was one of those things I thought would last forever, but the world had other plans.
I snap back into reality once both the twins start trying to convince me to invite him to the table. These two are always up to something. Especially Lani's boy crazy ass. "Invite him to the table. He looks so lonely." Lani basically begs. She puts emphasis on the so. "He's fine guys, he's just new. He'll figure it out," why can't they just leave this boy alone it's his first day. "If you won't go it I will." Lani says getting out of her seat walking over to Jackson. Great.
They share a conversation I can't hear before he looks at the table and back at her. Moments later they're both walking back to the table, Lani cheesing hard as hell.
"Guys this is Jackson," she introduces him. "And Jackson this is Milah, Zion, Kamryn, my twin Lissa, and Salem." she says pointing to each of us as she tells him our names. "Oh yeah you're in my English class, right?" I'm guessing he's talking to me. I give him a small smile, "Yeah, that's me," I didn't think he paid attention to anybody in that class. I guess I was wrong. "Nice to see a familiar face." He smiles trying to make conversation. Ugh, can't he just talk to one of the other girls. "Yeah." I simply say as he's staring at me. "K well I have to get to my next class can't be late." The words rush off my tongue as I get my stuff and walk away.
After my breakup last year, I tried so hard to stay away from guys. I made a pact to myself to just stay single and love myself, and I'm not going to let anything get in the way of that.
...
After school is practice time, but that's not until 5:30, so I have some time to go get some food, go home, and rest. Just as I'm about to pull off I hear a knock on my window. I raise my window down to see no name new kid standing there. "Yes," I question him, looking at him like he has 2 heads. "I have places to be, and you're kind of holding me up." It comes off more rude than I want it to. "I was just asking where the football field is. I want to try out but this school is so big I can't seem to find anything," Jackson tells me smiling, and brushing his hair. His smile makes me soften. "Go straight and once you pass the tennis courts, make a left." I inform him. He nods, "I really came over here to ask you for your number, or if I could take you out. I know where the field is." He shyly states. Damn he wasted no time. It's only the first day, and he's making moves. "I'll think about it." I give him a little smile, wave, then pull off. He's left still standing there when I drive off.
