Battlefront II is a success, but for others it's a sign of the downfall of gaming with the inclusion of heavy micro-transactions. Electronic Arts(EA) has been faithful in their attempts to bring the game back up to standard, they began with an overhaul of their character progression and unlock system, essentially removing a lot of the issues many players had.
That being said, this may just be the optimal time to hop back into EA's ambitious game, EA has teased the road map of the next free DLC and it does look good indeed. Over the next couple of months DICE(The development studio behind the game) will be rolling out four major updates, each improving the game and adding content. Everyone's favorite saga looks to finally be making a big splash in Battlefront II with the inclusion of fan favorite content from the prequels. The July and August updates are already upon us, introducing new cosmetics and the game mode Hero Star-fighters, a space based version of Heroes vs Villains with some of Star Wars' iconic ships.
DICE are being a bit vague on the details on the final 2 content updates of the year but judging by the road map we can expect General Grievous and Obi-Wan Kenobi in the fall season, including a new game mode that they seem pretty excited about yet haven't released details. They'll also be doing an overhaul of the squad system which should make it easier to party up and communicate with your friends in game. The final content update of the 2018 year will be sometime in the winter season and will bring us Anakin Skywalker and Count Dooku as playable heroes along with the Geonosis map, which is confirmed to be the biggest map yet. EA has made some mistakes but with some patches and overhauls of certain gameplay aspects now might just be the best time to get into Star Wars Battlefront II.
In other EA related Star Wars news, Vince Zampella from Respawn also gave a short tease of their upcoming single player Star Wars game, Jedi Fallen Order. He was intentionally vague as he voiced while being interviewed and simply said the game will be set between episodes 3 and 4 will have a dark serious tone, and will be available during the holiday season of 2019. A lot of Star Wars fans have been anxious for a good single player campaign since the success of The Force Unleashed games and with the studio behind Titanfall working on it, the hype is definitely building.
