"Hey, it's Ezra, leave a message!"
''Hey, it's me. I hope you're doing well. I..I know it's been a couple of years since we last spoke b..but I'm back in town. So, call me back?"
But what I really want to say is, "I've been thinking about you lately, and remembered the last time we hung out."
Dim lights and the smell of cheap buttered popcorn; what could go wrong at the cinema? Two tickets to watch 'IT'? Checked. A mix of sweet and salty popcorn? Checked. Fanta Grape soda? Checked. Smooth movie date? Not checked. Our tongues burned because the popcorn turned out to be completely salty. The children behind us were constantly kicking our seats. To top it all off, there was a glitch halfway into the movie and we were asked to leave. But at least we received free movie tickets as compensation. It wasn't that bad.
What happened next was hands-down the funniest thing we've ever done. We went into the arcade, ready to throw our money away on childhood games. But I saw a couple of tickets left at a machine. Without thinking twice, I grabbed and claimed them as ours. Then, you found more tickets at another machine! The next thing you know, we were hunting for tickets around the arcade.
100 tickets in our hands, and I thought I was ready to take the win to make you the happiest person of the hour, only to realize that the cheapest prize was worth 7000 tickets. Could you believe that? We were so proud of our 100 stolen tickets.
But nothing could compare to how we ended the date. I knew how much you loved waffles, so I had to bring you to this really good waffle place. As cliche as it sounds, my highlight of that date was the biggest smile on your face when you took a bite from the waffle. You weren't one to express yourself so easily, but I saw so much from that five seconds. And it only took those few seconds to realize that I wanted you to be mine.
Within this letter lies our perfect date. This letter that will never cross your path.
