FRITZ: Erm, Wilhelm, get over here!

Wilhelm promptly does so.

WILHELM: What is it?

FRITZ: Do you know about the deal?

WILHELM: What deal?

Fritz pushes Wilhelm aside.

FRITZ: No he doesn't know.

MARCEL: Cut the boy into the deal.

Fritz pulls Wilhelm back in.

FRITZ: Okay you've been cut into the deal.

WILHELM: What deal?!

MARCEL: Fritz is selling Max out to the Allies.

WILHELM: Oh that deal!

FRITZ: You knew?

WILHELM: Captain told me.

FRITZ: The Captain? What else did he say?

WILHELM: Nothing.

FRITZ: Wilhelm?!

WILHELM: Nothing!

FRITZ: Boy, any oath you made to the Captain is now forfeit because, as we established from the earlier conversation, he's dead.

WILHELM: You were part of the deal.

FRITZ: I was part of the deal?!

WILHELM: He obviously didn't go through with it! Look at him, racked with guilt.

FRITZ: He did that 'cos you told him Hitler's dead!

MAX: What was-

FRITZ, WILHELM, MARCEL: (Immediately) He's fine!

Content, Max continues scavenging.

FRITZ: You can't go through with that deal.

WILHELM: I wasn't going to go through with that deal.

FRITZ: Why not, it's a great deal?

WILHELM: It was the Captain's deal, died with him, only doing what I was told.

Amongst the other knick-knacks on Dietrich's body, Max finds a small diary and begins to read it.

Pause.

FRITZ: Say that again?

WILHELM: I was only doing what I was told...

FRITZ: One more time.

WILHELM: (Slowly) I was only doing, what I was told.

Fritz plants a large, overdramatic kiss on Wilhelm's lips.

FRITZ: Oh you fucking beautiful bastard!

WILHELM: Fritz what the fuck?

FRITZ: "Only doing what you were told", you are one clever son of a bitch you know that?

WILHELM: I don't-?

MARCEL: Diminished responsibility...

FRITZ: Diminished fucking responsibility, you are Goddamn right! How it slipped my mind I don't know.

MARCEL: It won't work.

FRITZ: Course it will bloody work.

MARCEL: Rephrase, it won't work, for you.
