And I said "What's up, What you been thinking?" Cause you've been staring at that roof so long I'd swear it's come alive.
Jeremy and Michael lay in the basement. The former was staring longingly at the ceiling his brow furrowed in deep thought and the latter was getting high. Michael looked at him confused but then just passed him the blunt he had in hand.
And he said nine words and now we're sinking. But I can't find it in myself to want to lie to keep this thing from going down.
Jeremy took a long drag, then sighed. "This has to be the last time we meet." Michael just stared at his best friend and shrugged. His nonchalance shocked Jeremy, but the aforementioned blamed it on the weed.
Cause that boy took my heart and I ain't want it back. I'm laying down my cards.
Michael looked Jeremy in the eyes and said, "One more time before you go." Before he began sucking on Jeremy's neck leaving a love bite. Jeremy closed his eyes and they fell into their rhythm.
Cause you said it meant nothing and I should've kept my silence. But I guess I'm too attached to my own pride to let you know.
"Ahhh Michael~" Jeremy breathed out. Michael continued to suck on the brunette's sweet spot.
"I-i-i love you Michael." Jeremy stuttered out, Michael paused.
"I love you too."
That all these words meant nothing and I've always been this heartless, and we were just having sex no I would never call it love. But love,
The two teenagers lay on bean bags panting. Suddenly Michael got up and looked at Jeremy then pointed to the door.
"Please leave." Jeremy looked up at Michael in confusion.
"But, you always let me-"
"Please leave." Michael said through gritted teeth. Jeremy got off of his bean bag and left the basement, he waited for Michael to join him at the door. But Micheal just sat back down in his bean bag. Michael shoved his head in his hands and let out a strangled sob.
Oh no, I think I'm catching feelings and I don't know if this is empathy I feel. Just hold on, remember why you said this was the last time.
Michael sat there sobbing until tears no longer came out of his eyes. How could he be so stupid? Why couldn't he be satisfied? He left because he had feelings for Christine. Maybe it was for the best.
So I guess it's let die to let live.
Michael stared at his "best friend" from afar. When suddenly he felt a presence next to him.
"Hey headphones." Michael turned to the voice and saw a certain short boy with a fading red streak in his blonde hair.
No I don't know how to forget you.
Michael giggled as the short boy retold his outrageous stories. He felt happy again as if Jeremy never existed, or maybe that what they had before never existed. His time with Rich felt entirely genuine. Maybe it was time to let go.
No I don't know how to forget you.
The two boys sat in the bed out of breath. The silence wasn't awkward like it used to be now it was comfortable. "That was fun." The boys had just had a tickle fight and had been laughing until tears pricked at the corner of their eyes. "You wanna watch a movie?" The shorter of the two asked. The tanned boy nodded and leaned against his friend.
No I don't know how to forget you.
The shop was mostly empty except for a few customers. The bell on the door rang signaling someone had just came in. Michael turned to the door and saw Rich walking towards him, his smile up to his eyes. "Hello!" The small boy sang, just as Michael was about to speak the bell rang again. In walked none other than Jeremy Heere. The lanky boy stared at Michael for a while then finally decided to walk over. "Can I talk to you Michael?" He paused eyeing Rich, "Alone." Michael sighed and looked the boy in the eyes.
"Anything you have to say to me can be said in front of Rich." The tan boy firmly stated.
"Michael, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have left you for Christine she wasn't even all that great all she did was talk about theatre." Rich had to stifle a laugh when Jeremy said this, after he composed himself he turned to Jeremy confidence oozing in his voice.
"Sorry boy you missed out, this boy is mine now." Rich smiled politely.
"Oh."
No I don't know how to... forget you.
Michael smiled at his old friend maybe this encounter wasn't so bad now that he had Rich by his side.
"Well as much fun as I'm having right now I need to close up. Jeremy maybe we can hang out another time, as friends of course."
"Yeah, that sounds great." And with that Jeremy left with a wave. The two boys in the shop looked at each other and started to laugh. They linked hands and left the shop. Once outside in the moonlight Rich pulled Michael closer to him and they walked back to Michael's place. Sometimes if you have the right distraction it's easy to forget what caused you pain. That's something Michael learned the hard way but for right now the hard way had been the best way.
