surprise
she took her luggage off the carousel
her mind now filled with doubt
luckily he doesn’t know I’m coming
there is still time to back out
this was a crazy plan anyway
what if all he said was lies?
she looked around the emptying terminal
at least she gave it a try
she walked outside, it was raining
she would stay one night in the hotel
tomorrow she would book a flight
and back home she would go
she looked around for a taxi
but there was none to be found
she turned to go back inside
to find another way into town
“Excuse me, miss. You look lost.”
she heard a voice say, soft and low
she turned quickly, he was there
through tears she said, “how did you know?”
he took her in his arms
gave her a kiss, passionate and true
wiped her tears and said, “I didn’t know.
I was taking the next fight, to surprise you.”
