Combat boots tramped the hot soil, dead vegetation crushed as the 7th deca of the 3rd millennia marched across the Somali sun. Summer has arrived, the air felt humid the winds bringing evaporated seawater from the nearby coast. Custom tailored armor covered their whole bodies, ablative plates sewn into Kevlar served as the base of their body armour. Padded gambeson served as protection for their arms and legs, festooned with the markings of their respective tribes. Each one was armed with and AK-Ultra, the culmination of years upon years of design its modular operation allowed for various combat options.

A rogue seeker mine took out their only vehicle, forcing them to walk the remaining distance to their target.

5 kilometres until they reach their objective.

Centurion Arraveth leading officer led the small column. A veteran of 90 major operations since his enlistment. At 30 years old, He was the youngest officer in the whole Millenia, though this only brought scorn from the more aged officers. A native of Israel, his brown hair and eyes concealed by clothing and armour.

Behind him, was his equerry, Nga' Shir. A greenie by the team's standards, she has only 6 operations beneath her belt, experience that would have earned her veteran status had she continued to serve in the army. Cradling her Ak-Ultra, she had it modified to better fight in her role as a vanguard. Made of lighter metal and with a shortened barrel made it lighter and easier to maneuver, this was supplemented with a drum magazine containing fifty 9mm caliber bullets allowing her to fire more longer without reloading.

The third in the column was communications officer Ratur. The large facility would require all of them to know of each other's whereabouts, their mission would have the Millenia spread over a large area. A necessary precaution considering the nature of the facility they are going in.

The fourth was heavy weapons bearer Aurii. Instead of an Ak-Ultra, a large portable auto-canon was slung over his shoulder, attached to it was a flamethrower nozzle. His bandoliers and belt-feeds contained anti-material rounds, made to penetrate the amour of tanks it would do worse to flesh. His tank meanwhile, was full of pyroacidic fuel, to burn and melt was the saying. Having served along with Arreveth for five years, He has gained a reputation for rushing into headlong into fights. He reasoned that it was easier to bulrush his opponent and finish the fight earlier, rather than taking cover and firing pot shots at each other.

Fifth and last was Optio Reiner second-in-command. An air of confidence surrounded him at all times, not helping was an attitude of competitiveness especially anything that involved firing guns. Acting as the team's temporary medic, his rifle was customized for long-range combat longer barrel, large caliber rounds, and a scope all in all the works.

Had this be a regular operation, they would have operated at their full strength ten members all in all. It was the very nature of their mission that prevented from doing so.

Elements of the 3rd millennia were already present when they arrived.

The past months saw hundreds of mass kidnappings, thefts, and murders. All of which were tracked to this very place. Once a proud mansion turned fortress, its marble outer walls were raised and reinforced. Its lush garden was torn down making way for large excavations. Scores of barricades surrounded it on all sides, behind them watchtowers and artillery. Preliminary bombardment from a nearby destroyer made short work of it all, its steel skeleton and concrete walls were obliterated. Sparks of electricity were a frequent sight among its remains. The sight of the ruined building would have made even the most stoic masons cry in anguish. This fortress was not their target, but the very facility located beneath.

"Thank you for joining us Centurion", intoned the commander for this operation Centurion Shirii of the 1rst deca. "Thank you for having us commander", replied Arraveth.

"60 hostiles confirmed, they seem to be guarding a large causeway into the cavern. Intel states that the facility is in there" the voice of one of the communication officers echoed across the comm lines.

Raising his rifle Reiner along with several other marksmen from the other Decas took aim at the guards. They were only eight snipers present eight against sixty, though this did little to hamper their progress. "Time for a shooting gallery boys!" Reiner quietly screamed into the comms, an evident smirk on his face as he lined up his sights with a guard's head.

With incredible ease, he aimed and fired. Twice, four times, eight times did he fire, eight guards swiftly and quietly killed from a distance. Each one falling mere seconds after one another, a testament to his skills. He fired again even before the guard's body fell Reiner has already moved on, switching between targets as easily as solving two plus two.

Nga' Shir watched from the sidelines amazed at the sight, she couldn't even hit a practice dummy at 3000 meters let alone a kilometer.

"Deca forward", Arraveth has taken the initiative and along his team were already moving forward. Each step was a gamble, the bombardment should have triggered any mines yet one couldn't be too careful. Nga' Shir tightened her grip on her rifle, the time was nearing for her vengeance.
