five's pov:

i walked into the one place i could get a decent cup of coffee. griddy's doughnuts.

i sat at the counter, a man following in after.

a woman in her mid-60's came around the corner, clutching her notepad and a her name tag that stated 'Agnes'. that just screams excitement.

"sorry, sink was clogged," she chuckled "so, what'll it be?"

"uhhh, get me a chocolate eclair" he said

the bell at the door caught my attention, as a girl walked in. her y/h/c hair stopped at her shoulders as she smiled at 'Agnes' behind the the counter.

"ah, y/n what'll be today, a vanilla milkshake?"

"sure, thanks agnes," she smiled,  soft dimples making their way onto her cheeks.

(DIMPLE GANG WHERE YOU AT?)

she went back to her notepad, writing down the two orders.

"can i get the kid a... glass of milk or something?" she asked, referring to me as 'the kid'.

typical.
(a/n rip five)

"the kid wants coffee, black."

y/n's pov:

"the kid wants coffee, black" the raven haired boy next to me said, annoyance evident in his voice.

"cute kid."

he forced a smile at the poor old soul in front of him, waiting for her to disappear.

she stared at him, for a brief second and then looked away, not keen on making eye contact.

agnes hurriedly went to get our orders, and coffee kid turned to me.

"don't remember this place being such a shithole," he said with a straight face, his dark green eyes piercing into my y/e/c eyes, "i used to come here as a kid, i'd sneak out with my brothers and sisters and eat doughnuts until we puked."

i let out a chuckle and looked at his face, his jaw clenching as he clutched his hands together.

"simpler times huh?"

i stared at the boy in front of me and nodded, not understanding a single inch of what he meant.

agnes came back with our beverages and the mans eclair.

"so, what's your name?" i asked, trying to start a conversation with the complex boy.

"five"

"as in the number?"

"yep, it's complicated."

a phrase i've heard too often

"cool, i'm y/n."

"pretty name, for a pretty girl."

(a/n oh the cheese)

i smiled at his cheesy compliment. five turned to the man downing his eclair and asked him a series of questions, while i continued with my milkshake.

the man left after quenching five's curiosity.

"what are you doing out this late at night?" he asked taking a sip of his coffee.
black.

"let's just say i'm a loyal customer."

"hm."

the tinkle of the bell at the door sounded again and i turned my head back.

five's pov:
the bell at the door sounded again, signalling another customer came in. well, that customer turned out to be a pleasant surprise.

"hm that was fast," i sighed, " thought i'd have more time before they found me"

"ok, so let's all be professional about this, yeah?" the mystery man said, gun cocked and aimed at my head, "on your feet and come with us."

y/n's pov:

i watched as the men armed with with guns surrounded five an i, glaring at us as if we were prey.

five looked completely unfazed. the heck? you'd think he dealt with this everyday. i on the other hand, did not and God forbid i ever would.

i tried to sweet talk my way out of this, but everything happened too quick and before i knew, i was hiding behind the counter with agnes, watching five become an assassin.

the rest was a blur.

five's pov:

i finished with assholes, darting back to
y/n as a shiver ran down her spine.

"i don't know if that was the most traumatic or amazing experience in my life," she said, stunned as her y/e/c eyes grew the size of tennis balls.

i smirked at her.

"i'm sure your parents are wondering where you are, you should go home," i said, not wanting to get her involved in my shenanigans.

she made a beeline towards the door, steeping over the bodies in the process, but she turned back.

"five," she blurted out.

y/n's pov:

he lifted up his head, his hair now scruffy and a small cut on his bottom lip.

"who are you?" i said, staring into his piercing green eyes as if they held the answer.

he laughed and smirked, and with a 𝒘𝒉𝒐𝒐𝒔𝒉 he was gone.
