"You're not straight, you don't have an infinite number of y-values, and all but one y-value of the ones you do have have two x-values. We're nothing alike."
As soon as I near my table, I already know that Linear Function is arguing with Quadratic Function.
"Hey, Quad, what is this about?" I ask when I reach them.
"Linear Function is convinced we have nothing in common."
I let out a deep sigh before turning to Linear Function. "Lin, I know it may seem like you two are completely different, but you have a lot more in common than you think. You both can draw yourselves on graph paper, you both have an infinite number of x-values, and you both only have one y- value per x-value."
Realization dawned upon Linear Function. "Huh, I guess you're right. I'm sorry, Quad. I shouldn't have been so close-minded. We do have a lot in common."
"It's okay, Lin. Now, let's get some lunch. I'm starving. What are they having?" Quad asks.
I reply, "4,2 : the only thing we all like."

Short Story"You're not straight, you don't have an infinite number of y-values, and all but one y-value of the ones you do have have two x-values. We're nothing alike." This is something I had to write for Algebra, okay. Don't judge.
