All she could hear was an annoying ringing in her ear. Finally realizing it was her alarm clock, she lazily flung her arm over and felt around her nightstand for that stupid clock. Finding it, she slammed her hand on a button. When it wouldn't shut up, she slammed her hand on another button until she found snooze. When silence over took her room, she drew her arm back to her side and sighed a sigh of relief.
She was just on the verge of diving into that endless happiness called sleep, when she heard her door creak open. A feeling of dread over took her. She heard a yell and the next thing she knew, all the air was being squeezed out of her lungs as something large and heavy slammed itself onto her bed.
"Oh my word Eric! Really??? Your turning seventeen today not three!" she exclaimed, aggravated.
Yes, that large and heavy thing was her twin brother Eric. He was the older of the two by like a minute and always loved rubbing it in. If you didn't get it by now, he loved to annoy the crap out of his twin sister, Erin.
Today was Eric's birthday. He was born on December 6, 1924 at 11:59 p.m. His sister, on the other hand, was born at 12:00 a.m., on the morning of December 7, 1924. So today, they would celebrate his birthday and tomorrow they would celebrate hers. It was a unique setup and she loved it.
"That was priceless! You never learn to lock your door do you??" Eric couldn't quit laughing.
Having had enough of it, Erin shoved her twin off the bed. He landed with a thump on her floor and an "ouch!" that followed. Feeling satisfied with herself, she stretched out on her bed and let out an inhumane yawn. Sitting up, she looked down at the floor to meet the glare that her brother was shooting her. Boy, if looks could kill...
"Maybe that'll teach you not to jump on my bed like a cat on a mouse," Erin retorted, swinging her feet around to the side of the bed to stand up. "And you know Mom and Dad don't like it when we lock our rooms."
She stood up and helped her brother off the floor, who in turn just shoved her back on her bed. She landed with a "oomph" on it and watched as her brother went running out of her room, laughing like a hyena. A second later she saw his brown head peak around the corner.
"Oh, by the way, mom wants us upstairs for breakfast."
Erin rolled her eyes. "You couldn't have just told me that instead of trying to kill me??"
Eric looked thoughtful for a second. "Nahhh trying to 'kill' you was more fun," he said, sporting a smirk.
Erin grabbed her pillow and chucked it at him, earning him a face full of pillow. She started laughing as she got to her feet.
"Dude, your facial expression after it fell was awesome," she stated, walking over and picking up her pillow. Eric rolled his eyes and smiled. "I'll met you upstairs, sis," he said, as he made his way upstairs.
She smiled as she began to make her bed. Her and Eric may fight like cats and dogs but she didn't know what she would do without him.
She was making her way to her closet when she slipped on a piece of clothing, earning her a lovely spot on the floor. Reserved just for her. She groaned as she sat up, rubbing her elbow. Boy was this going to be a longgg day...
