All I can remember are the screams. Ognian, a demon, had quite a bounty on his head in Hell. Other demons all over the plane of oblivion were after us to keep him there. I was his guardian angel when he was alive, before he became the monster that sent him down there in the first place. But now... I assume I've saved him? Although how do you truly save a tortured soul? He was stubborn in life as much as he was in death.
As of right now I have no idea where we landed. I had taken us through the eternal plane of hell till i was able to catch a glimpse of a bright white rift between the dimensions of Hell, and... Wherever we were now I guess.
"You shouldve left me there John..."
I heard Ognian beside me. It was dark, so I could not see him. My wings did not give off any of the white glow they once had. In fact... My wings were non-existent now.
I turned to where I heard the voice.
"You deserve a second chance Ognian. I wanted to believe you would be fine and god would allow you to ascend given you the opertun-"
"Shut up. Just..." There was a pause, and a shuffle of feet. I could barely make out the glimpse of red in his eyes, and the outline of his shadow in the dark. He took a long, shaky breath.
"God doesnt care what happens to his creation. He only judges the action. Not the reasoning behind it."
I stayed silent. I couldnt argue with him if i wanted him to stay calm. He closed his eyes for a moment, then continued.
"We need to find a way out. Whats done is done I guess."
There was a flash of white to my right, and I had to hold my hand up to keep from being blinded, as did Ognian.
I could see his body again, famished, bruised and bloody.
A voice sounded from the light.
"You are tresspassing, Son of Jehovah. Speak your business."
This must be a celestial. I would need to speak clear and stern, not wanting to disrespect the being.
"John, an angel under god, my lord. I am seeking to find refuge for this man on earth. Return him to his body."
Good enough I guess.
"Well, son of Jehovah..." The light shimmered as it spoke. "Your quest is in vein for I have no power to return Lucifers prisoners back to the land of the living."
I gritted my teeth. Unknowing we would face something so powerful before righting a wrong that was made against Ognian.
"I will give anything my lord!" Ognian spoke. His hands were by his sides, and he was looking directly into the light.
"Do not challenge me, damned. What you ask for is impossible without consequence and sacrifice. I can promise you, if you were to go back, you will not remember your life, you will become a target for Lucifer, and once he kills you again, you will go to somewhere worse than Hell. Do you want that?"
Ognians eyes were watering. He mightve been crying, or the light was so blinding it caused his eyes to water.
"I hate myself for who i was. And ill never forgive myself for that."
I spoke up, lowering my hands.
"I vouch for him my lord. I was his guardian angel, hes hardheaded, but has a heart of gold."
The light was silent for a moment, then spoke in an amused tone.
"Then... You'll join him. To prove him to your god, son of Jehovah. If you were to fail along with him, well..."
Just then, I felt nothing but agonizing pain as i felt my wings, non-existent even though they were here, burn hot like a thousand suns. It was agonizing. But, just as fast as it began, it stopped, and I could feel a hot ooze running down my back. I was afraid to touch the now empty space my wings once occupied. Looking up though, I saw jagged chains wrapped around a set of sundered wings... My wings.
"You bastered... You BASTERED!" I cried out in agony, rushing for the light, brandishing my blade. I was stopped by black ooze coming from the ground, holding fast to my feet, and legs, moving its way up.
"Consider this payment, Son of Jehovah."
"John!"
Behind me, ognian was being swallowed by the void as well. I turned back to the celestial, with as much hatred as I could muster.
"Damn you!"
"Dont forget Son of Jehovah... You are in my realm, asking for my price. The price has been set, and you have paid in full. Consider this... Collateral. Nothing personal."
The ooze covered my mouth, and i could no longer move. As it made its way up my face, the light faded, and darkness settled. And a wave, of pure claustrophobia, took place.

A mother sat up in a hospital bed, holding her infant in her arms. She and the babe were the only ones in that hospital room. A night of torment and pain, all worth it for her child. Although she was having trouble calling the boy by the name she had called him while she was still under the anesthetics. It didnt fit his features. For a baby, he was big, Strong, and healthy. As if god just sent her an angel. She shook her head and pressed the button on her bedside.
A nurse came into the room in a heartbeat. "Yes ms. Smith?"
"C-can i still change his name? Or is it too late?" The mother stamered.
"Oh of course," the nurse walked into the room carrying a clipboard.
The mother took it, and crossed out the name 'John Vincent Smith' on the clipboard.
"What kind of name were you thinking?"
The mother smiled and immediately wrote down the name she had in her mind all morning.
"Andrew... Andrew, Micheal Smith."
