What if I had stopped living in my head?
We could have been the best friends forever, getting high on fun with no care for anyone in this world. We could have been gossiping, supporting and protecting each other, it would have been us against this cruel world.
What if I had stopped living in my head?
You and I could still have been together, drinking wine and loving each other. We would have been quite the pair, always bickering and making people awe. Who knows, we could have made people jealous of our love.
What if I had stopped living in my head?
I could have seen the growing spaces between us perhaps; I could have seen the abyss our relationship fell into. Would it have made a difference if I had stopped living in my head, dreaming about our future, our kids, our home, an eternity with you and told you how much you meant to me, how much I loved you, would you have stayed?
What if had stopped living in my head, and actually lived my life?
You told me it could have been full of adventure, stories and light. Maybe if I wasn't so insecure, fearful and drowning in darkness, my torturous imagination would not have vacuumed the life out of me. I did what you asked me to do, I started going out, met new people, did things that made me happy, but you, you didn't stay. I am better now, living in the actual world instead of utopia in my head. The void you left in my heart is filling, but every night, I lay in my bed, eyes wide open, wondering, what if you had stayed?
