Ruby: Another day living as someone I don't want to be. Who should I be today? God knows I can be myself ever again. I cannot live with all the things I have done. I can't live unless it's as someone else.
Ruby looks at a picture on the dresser
Ruby: I'm sorry Mom.
Ruby picks up her copy of The Hunger Games from the dresser.
Ruby: Today, I'll be Katniss, she is brave and selfless does everything for her family, something I can't say about myself.
Jim (offstage): Ruby it's time to go!
Ruby: Here goes...everything
Ruby goes offstage and reenters from stage right the light on stage right go up revealing Jim sitting in a chair holding a bottle of beer. Ruby is wearing combat boots and has her hair in a long braid.
Jim (sleepily): Hurry up or you'll be late from school!
Ruby (quietly): I'm going
Jim: What was that! Was that sass, you ungrateful brat!
Jim walk over to Ruby and reaches out to grab her wrist, Ruby flinches away involuntarily
Ruby: No, I'm sorry, I just...
Jim stares at Ruby for a couple seconds before speaking
Jim: Hurry up and leave before you make me any angrier
