Chapter 1: The parting gift

Im Jhon William, Im 18 years old and I'm a college student at Greendale University. I study the possibilities of other specie's out there. Today is February 3 of the year 2035.

I woke up and checked the time... Oh crap! I'm late. I quickly got out of bed and get dressed fixed my hair and brushed my teeth. I got in my car and drove off to school.

I arrived at school at 11:00 am! I'm so freaking late, class starts at exactly 10:30 am and I'm late for 30 minutes! What a student I am. I got in class, and our first period was CHEMISTRY the one subject that I'm not good in. I sat in my chair, but good thing the professor didn't notice me coming in or he will kill me. And finally chemistry class is over, I checked my watch and time was exactly 12:00 noon, I drove to the nearest cafe to get coffee and some snacks along the way.

Suddenly my phone ringes my father was calling me,I ignored the call but then he calls again, I answered it,

He said, "Son I'm dying"

I was in complete shock I quickly took my coffee and my lunch. I called him again... But... He didn't answered. I was so scared I'm gonna loose my father and I didn't even answered his first call. I drove to the nearest hospital and asked the front desk, "Is there any Mr. William's here"

She replied, and said, "what are you to him sir?".

Im his son Jhon William.

She told me to go to the room 304.

I quickly ran. I finally got to the room, I quickly opened the door and saw my father being checked by the doctor. I asked what's happening to my Father,

He replied with, "Sir your father is dying he has 10 minutes left in this world"

In that very moment I rushed to my dad.

and said, "Dad please don't leave me"

he replied and said, " Son there's something in that bag right there get it and use it"

I was shocked why would he let me get the bag. I took the bag and looked in it. And I saw a dagger, I was shocked, why is there a dagger here?,

my dad said, "Son that dagger is an ancestral artifact it has powers that anyone can not even imagine, go to your Uncle Leo he knows what to do"

I was about to reply... And suddenly his heartbeat drops instantly, I shouted.. help!!..help!

Doctor's and nurse's rushed in the room and do some CPR, I was in the corner thinking what to do next.

5 minutes has passed the doctor's tried everything they could but they didn't saved my father. I burst into tears knowing that my father is gone and I didn't have the chance to say goodbye and I love you. The Doctor's and Nurse's got out the room and let me be with my dead father for a few moments, I kept seeing the dagger and remember what my father said.

I slowly said, "Dad...goodbye..I.. love..you"

I slowly walked out the room and grabbed the dagger and drove to my Uncle Leo's house.

I arrived at the house of my Uncle after a 5 minute drive. I told him the news and told him about the dagger.

He said, " Boy I'm sorry for our lost but I know my brother he would sacrifice himself for you".

I was in complete shock I said, "What are you talking about"

he replied and said, " We are not a normal family our ancestors are magic weilders"

I was in complete shock.

I said, "What! So your saying we are magical?

He replied and said, "No! Our ancestors were and your father he was left a dagger from his grandfather, that was said to be powerful there were people who want that dagger beacuse that can destroy a whole city and now he gave it to you before he dies, he was a target beacuse he has the dagger"

I lost words to say.

I replied with, "So this dagger is more powerful than anything here?"

He said, "Yes!"

And I said, "but how do you use this dagger"

He was about to reply...but suddenly gunshots were fired everywhere we ducked and go directly to the kitchen to seek protection. We went through the back and door and observed the place, the gunshots stopped.

We quickly ran towards my car and turned the engine on and drove away.

Uncle Leo said, " We must go away and find another shelter this place is dangerous the UNKNOWNS are here"

I was like "what are the UNKNOWNS?"

He replied with, " they are specie's that are from another universe they can only be killed by this dagger any other weapons can't damage them, the government didn't know what they are so they named them the UNKNOWNS"

I said, "so my study is right that there are other specie's out there". I looked at the side mirror and saw someone following us...but...suddenly... I lost consciousness and I can't feel anything, Moments has passed     I woke up and observed the sorrounding and, I was liying in a bed I saw a figure of a man outside the door.. and.....
