I was a South African girl who when she turned 18 it was goodbye africa and hello America. I was lying lazily in bed when my phone started ringing. My best friend Charlotte was sitting on my bed and of course then answered the phone for me. She started saying uh huh, uh huh and then she screamed. She announced to me that I had gotten my dream job with Marvel. I had always wanted to be a writer but now was my chance. I got on the phone with Kevin. He told that in 4 days I would arrive in LA.
After we had sorted out plane tickets, accommodation and all that. I was ready to go. Charlotte drove to the airport. We both nearly cried. As I went through security she screamed, " Totsiens Y/N!" (Totsiens means goodbye in Afrikaans which is a South African language)
I got on to the plane and I let my music play. I fell asleep humming bury a friend by Billie Eilish.
