Sapphire's PoV
After traveling to Aberdeen, Scotland for my best friend's funeral, I hopped on the first plane to London, England. I needed to see my father as soon as possible.
Once the plane landed, I wandered around the city for a landmark. Any landmark that was familiar to me.
After what seemed like forever, I realized I was lost. I decided now was probably the time to call Arcturus.
After the phone had rung for about twenty seconds, I figured he wasn't going to answer until I heard the familiar voice, "Hello. Arcturus speaking; how may I help you?"
"Hi, father. I... uhh," I stopped for a second. How do I tell him I got lost in a city I grew up in? And then I thought of something. "I happen to be in London and I was wondering if you wanted to hang out?"
"Hmm," Arcturus thought about my offer for a second. "I would love to, but I can't. I'm in Frankfurt with Julian. He called and asked me to come and help him find you." Of course Julian did. He bargained with me, "How does this sound: you come home and talk to Julian, and then we can hang out?"
Sighing, I agreed, "Fine. I'll be on the first plane back home. But tell Julian not to stay up too late, I'll probably arrive in the morning."
Arcturus laughed and then hung up. I somehow retraced my steps and found my way back to the airport. I purchased my ticket. The next flight to Frankfurt left at 11:30 a.m.. Welp, there goes my plan for being at home in the morning.
I made my way to the nearest hotel and purchased a room. I layed down after brushing my teeth and get into my pajamas.
Sadly, I was unable to sleep, so I stared into the nothingness for most of the night.
When eight o'clock hit, I changed and made my way to the airport.
Around 10:45, the flight announcer came on the intercom, "Raynair 1687, London to Frankfurt, please make your way to Gate 8. Raynair 1687, please make your way to Gate 8." That's my flight.
Sighing, I made my way to Gate 8 and boarded the plane with ease. I was in time to snatch my window seat. I put my earbuds in and got lost in the music.
About an hour and a half went by when the plane finally landed. I was determined to be one of the first ones off the plane.
Suddenly, my stomach started growling. That's when I realized I hadn't eaten in a few days.
Instead of going home, I decided to stop at a nearby shop and hopefully get some cheap food. I arrived at a rundown shop and went in.
I was greeted immediately by a bell ringing and a girl with wavy, strawberry blonde hair appeared. "Hello. Is there anything I can help you with?" She asked. She didn't look a day over twenty.
"Do you sell any food?" I asked.
With a smile, she answered, "Absolutely! Our special today is waffles and coffee. How does that sound?"
"Perfect," I smiled back.
She lead me to a table and sat me down. I watched as she opened the freezer and got two waffles, placed them in the toaster, and pushed the button down. Then, she turned, got a coffee mug, and filled it about three-quarters of the way full.
Directing her attention towards me, she asked, "How would you like your coffee, miss?"
"Milk and sugar, please," I answered without even thinking about it.
"Coming right up," she cheerfully spoke.
The girl put enough milk in the coffee to turn it a light brown, and then added two scoops of sugar. My favourite. I have to bring Julian here sometime.
Retrieving a plate, she put the waffles on it, and then placed my coffee and the food down in front of me.
After getting some food for herself, the girl say across from me and we ate in a comfortable silence.
She shifted uncomfortably in her seat before breaking the silence, "You wouldn't happen to be a hybrid, would you?" She asked with a hopeful, but sad smile.
"Actually," I started to answer her, but didn't know exactly how, "I... I, umm..." I bowed my head a little and blushed from embarrassment, "I am," I whispered. I didn't think she heard me.
Her eyes shot up to look at me. A smile plastered on her face and her eyes were yearning for a story.
Was it really time to tell my story?
