"No?" She asked.

"No."

I opened her closet again, listening as she flopped onto her bed, "You are impossible," She groaned.

Grinning, I pulled something out of the closet. It was one of those shirts that had a hood but wasn't a hoodie. I couldn't think of the name, but it wasn't too girly, and that's what mattered. It was solid black and had two white stripes on the sleeves near the wrist.

I held it up to my torso, showing the piece off. "How about this?"

Ash half-heartedly lifted her head, theatrically squinting her eyes as she did so. Upon seeing the shirt, she perked, sitting up straight. "Yeah, I guess that'll work."

Rolling my eyes, I threw it over my arm and put the hanger back where it belonged. "I'll give it back to you on Tuesday. By then I should be able to find something decent to wear."

"Hopefully."

I laughed, falling onto the bed beside her. We sat in silence for a while, both of us staring at the television we had left on. It was originally meant to be background noise, but It somehow managed to grab our attention. The show wasn't even that interesting, and the plot was hard to follow. Nevertheless, it kept us busy for a little over an hour.

I glanced at the clock, seeing that it was almost five.

"I should get going, I don't want to walk back to the apartments in the dark." I crawled off the bed, grabbing the shirt off the floor.

Ash nodded in understanding, "I would walk you down, but my little brother's in the other room and I don't want to leave him alone."

I shook my head. There was no reason for her to take me home. Plus, it's not the easiest walk, and the last thing I wanted was to make her walk it twice.

We made some small talk on our way to the exit, bursting into a fit of giggles at something said. I opened her front door and turned back to give her one last goodbye hug.

"Oh, shit, I almost forgot. My parents are out of town and my brother is at a sleepover, so I was wondering if you wanted to come over to my place tonight?" I asked. "Sal will be there~!" I foolishly wiggled my eyebrows, nudging her with my elbow.

She grinned and shook her head, hushing me as she pushed me out the door. "Shut up!" She laughed, "Sure I'll come. Assuming my parents are back in time to watch my brother. What time should I be there?"

"I was thinking maybe eight?"

"Sounds like a plan," She smiled and waved, "I'll see you then."

The walk back to the apartments was quiet, and I'd be lying if I said it didnt freak me out a bit. I'm still not used to things being so peaceful around town. I almost missed the anxiety of walking alone at dusk, and the threat of danger at any corner.

By the time I made it home, it was already six-thirty. I huffed, knowing I still had to clean the place up and order food.

After hanging up the annoyingly-trendy shirt, I crawled into my closet in an attempt to find a board game or two.

I sighed in satisfaction, placing my hands on my hips as I looked over the living room. I had spent a good hour cleaning the apartment. I will admit, I am a bit of a slob. I never clean unless I absolutely have too, but since this is the first time the group has been here I wanted to at least pretend I have a clean home.

I straightened the stack of games on the coffee table and glanced at the clock: Seven fifty. Where the hell is that pizza?

A loud knock on my door made me jump. I raced over to the radio that had been playing and slammed it off.
