Tentatively referred to RPGLit, Closed Switch is a tabletop RPG in literature form where I am the dungeon master, and you are the player. Should you choose to play, you will refer to your character sheet several times per episode during what are called "Skill Checks". These checks are pass or fail unless otherwise noted. Every check has the potential to be passed, but it is unlikely you will pass all of them even in the first episode, and downright impossible to pass them all in later episodes.
But that's okay! Every character is different and will experience the story in a unique way. Perhaps you will be the specialist that disarms the hardest trap in the book, the one few others stand a chance against. Or maybe you are a jack of all trades, able to bypass almost all of the easy and most of the moderate obstacles.
As you adventure, you will gain experience, pick up loot, and take damage, all of which you will need to track through a character sheet, notes app on your device, or in your head. It is possible to reach zero health points, at which your character would normally perish. You can choose whether to continue on, potentially walking around with negative health, or reroll with what you've learned.
Either way, I encourage readers to post their final character sheets at the end to see how their experience meshes with that of others.
