I Am My Mothers Witch Daughter

Chapter 1 Part 1

"Talia."

Silvia, Talias mother, stopped her mid-spell preparation. Talia looked up at her mother from the table she was currently gathering her supplies on, hiding her nervousness behind an innocent smile and her bright blue eyes.

"Yes mother?" She hastily stood up from her seat and stood with a strict, straight posture once she saw her mothers sour face and fast paced walk.

"Worthless child." She gripped the hem of her sun dress tightly when her mothers hand came in contact with the left side of her face. Her mother pulled at her hair, forcing Talia to look into her disgust filled eyes as she examined Talias cut and sore hands from the over work she was forced to perform.

"Have you been practicing as I have instructed? You will sing before the grand ball tomorrow evening as always at 11 sharp. You will wear the gown I have provided and you will dance at 12 with Alpha Damon's oldest son, Aaron Joseph. He is to be Alpha in less than 6 months, and Damon requested that only the most beautiful young women dance with his son." Her mother rolled her eyes as she turned to leave the lonely and chilly basement.

"That man is ignorant if he thinks I will allow my child to be with a runt. You may be worthless, but you can still be useful enough to uphold this family's status. Now hurry and finish your magic lesson, Denise will be here in an hour and a half. You know what will happen if you are late again."
Talia smiled sweetly and bowed slightly. "Yes, mother." As her mother left to her stony cold office, Talias smile fell into a frown as she thought about what had just occurred. She loved and missed her father dearly, but what he had done has caused her a lonely, two faced life.

Her mother despised her, a child of wed-lock. Her father fell in love with a witch from ancient and pure blood lineage, thus creating the scenario that has caused her to be blessed with the ancient gift of being able to use the ancient magic of singing the ancient texts of the Cavolare. Cavolare was an ancient race of witches and warlocks who used their own life force to heal others. While these healers were known for good, the few that were evil wrote the entire races gruesome downfall. After seeing the destruction the forbidden songs could ravage, one single warlock doomed the Cavolare. The Council Of The Supernatural exterminated the ancient race of Cavolare in hopes of protecting the world, they were content in the knowledge that they were no longer walking the earth. That is until a millennium later, a child of the Cavolare bloodline appears out of wed-lock with a price tag above her head and a room full of councilmen and women before her toddler eyes.
Because of Talias lineage and birthing background, the council has sheltered her from the world while putting her through vigorous training and schooling. During her training and school the council taught her the forbidden songs along with why she could not use them, she did not dare utter a single lyric of them.
Throughout her life everyone turned a blind eye to her mothers abuse. Everyone except for two people, these two people are her best friend and his father, she met them at a council meeting one lonely afternoon. She kept in contact with them through her pet Phoenix, which would deliver letters back and forth between the three of them.
If there was one thing that Talia feared most, it was that even after 8 years of covering their tracks, that her mother would one day discover the letters and she knew she would receive more than just one measly slap.
Talias hidden family and dark heroes were none other than Alpha Damon and his son Aaron Joseph. Her mothers two least favorite people.
While Talia finished up her momentary lapse of memories, she wrote a quick letter to Damon and headed up to her room to clean up and head to the garden out back for her voice lesson with Denise. She sighed in contempt, today was already starting out as an agonizingly long and stressful day.
