There are things in the world that can and will never be able to be explained. One of those things, I'm afraid, is the fact that I happen to have an app on my phone who knows the secrets of everyone.
I don't know where the app came from, or how it got here, all I know is that I can't delete it, It never goes away, and it only tells me the secrets of people I've known for longer then a month.
It isn't really a problem, considering I don't usually use it, but I get curious sometimes.
Knowing peoples deepest secrets tend to make me slightly uncomfortable. There are secrets people keep that shouldn't be let out.
Secrets that would make Freddy Kruger's skin crawl.
There are people, I've realized, who have darker secrets then you want to know.
You say you want to know everything about your best friend, but do you really? Would you really feel comfortable with them after you learn of their darkest secret?
The secret they've kept hidden from everyone due to its depth and intensity?
The answer for me is: yes. I would love to know every little detail about every single person.
But... that isn't quit how the app works. You enter a name once. You get one secret from that persons name and after that, you can't re-enter it. The app won't let you.
I've entered hundreds by now. I started with my mom.
Abigail Clemmings. The app would read little details about her for confirmation and then it would show the secret.
Abigail Clemmings, Born September 8th 1980. Mother to Kolby Clemmings.
That was the confirmation information. My mother's name, her birth and with it, my own name.
Abigail had twins on February 14, 2000, but only one of the twins were put to document. The other was deceased.
That's how I found out I was supposed to be a twin. I guess the twin died and I'm the only one who made it to the birth certificate stage. How unfortunate.
I continued typing in more names, more secrets came up. Secrets I didn't even know were possible for people to have, had them.
The next memorable name I pulled up was my cousin's.
Abby May.
Abby May, born June 2, 2003. Only child, mother is Manny Cain.
Then the secret,
Abby May kissed a girl, willingly, and did it again and again on occasion, until she realized she liked it.
That's how I figured out my cousin was gay. There is no limit to the amount of crazy that comes from this app.
At first I didn't believe it. At first it was just me, following instructions given on the unlabeled black box I found in my apps that I couldn't get rid of.
I didn't believe the first few predictions until they started making sense.
The secrets that came out made sense once I started asking the source. My cousin can't look at another girl without blushing, I didn't have to ask about that one.
I've just about run out of names, but I can't get rid of the app. I've never typed in my name. I guess it would be cool to see what would come up, considering I don't really have any secrets that I'm aware of.
With that, I opened my phone and clicked the black square.
Welcome, please type in their name: first and last, then verify the selected.
I typed my name in.
K-o-l-b-y • C-l-e-m-m-i-n-g-s
I waited for the information to appear on the screen.
Kolby Clemmings, born to Abigail Clemmings, born February 14, 2000.
I clicked the information, confirming that this person was the one I wanted to know about.
I wanted to know about me. I wanted to know about Kolby Clemmings.
