My name?

You must be expecting some kind of introduction from me. I don't know why you decided to read this when you could have been doing something else. However, I'm not going to stop you.

Why?

No reason that you should know. You might expect me to grab a knife and hunt you down. You expect me to capture you, muffle your screams, and slit your throat. To admire the beauty of your blood as the life leaves your eyes.

Ha.

All because of rumors, stories.....

I must be a killer. Itching for that one day, that I see you and catch you by surprise. You sadly kind of......hope for it.

You've seen the news. The murders. You'd love to pin it on me. I'd be the perfect suspect. My background would fit the mold, my alibis would have been unknown.

Just keep checking those boxes. Mold me into the killer you want to see. You've been doing it since I was 10. The child of a serial killer, present for all of his father's murders. You've heard that when my father and I were caught in the act that I had a knife in my hand.

But don't bother asking me.

How could my word change your mind?

I am the son of a serial killer, my name says it all.

You ask for my name?

I'm not going to say it.

I'll give you something to call me.

Call me Arcane.

Only Arcane.

Author's Notes

So if you have read any of my other works, and like the others there is a twist.

When I first wrote this with an actual character name (no I'm not going to reuse that name, sorry not sorry! 😊) this story was so different but then I though......what about a twist.

Plus keep in mind that Arcane wouldn't/can't trust you. There is no way to tell whether or not he's lying. Over the course of the story, he will change the names of the victims that fit who they are, like Arcane himself. Yes, Arcane is a symbolic name, it means mysterious.

So Arcane, protagonist or antagonist? I don't want that to be easy to tell, as you know, I love to make y'all guess.

I hope you enjoy this story and I might actually change the title from "Tell Me Otherwise" to something else but I'll warn you when I do.
