Ch 1: Golden Heart💛

I don't really know how to start this but I guess I should start with how I got into magic.

I'm Leo, I was 14 and in 8th grade when I got into magic while spending my time in the library in the fictional section, at the time I was reading a book about dragons, elves, and I believe pirates I don't really remember It was so long ago. I'm 19 now and don't go to school, I don't really care about that though because I make enough money working in random stores around the city, but if something happens and I'm in a dire situation I have magic on my side.

Anyway back to how I got into magic, I had just finished the book I was reading and decided to go to the very back of the library to find a new book. Using the wall as an anchor I lowered myself down to get to the lower shelves when a brick in the wall pushed in and opened up to reveal a staircase, me being the fantasy bookworm I was thought 'this is such a fantasy cliche' as I made my way inside I flipped a switch that I assumed was the light, it was and I made my way down the spiral staircase.

I don't know exactly what I expected to find down there but I remember thinking 'this'll be like an adventure!!!' I practically sprinted down the stairs, I was a little over 3/4 of the way down when the stair broke and I fell the rest of the way down, luckily I only got a couple of bruises from the fall but it still hurt.

In the room there were book cases filled with books on every wall, there were two arm chairs in the corner to my right with a small table in between but what caught my attention the most was the book in the middle of the room, it was laying open on an alter with 4 candles on each end of the alter, despite the fact that nobody has been down here for years considering all the dust all 4 candles were lit. The book had been glowing a magnificent golden color.

Although I knew I shouldn't, curiosity got the best of me and I reached out to touch it. I laid my hand flat on the page the book was on. Just then there was a flash of golden light. I couldn't take my eyes off the book as a golden heart appeared above the book, but as fast as it came it disappeared. The pages turned in a fury when suddenly the book closed. It threw itself at me and on instinct I grabbed it, it proceeded to push me up the stairs and out of the wall I landed on my butt and watched as the wall closed up again leaving me confused and amazed. I practically sprinted to the table I had been sitting at, tripping the whole way and discreetly stuffed the book into my bag and ran home to digest what just happened.

Please go easy on me this is my first story I thought this would be fun and it was ^^ I'm already working on more I hope you like it.
