Chapter One

Dignity watched the sunset from the side of Jade Mountain, her beautifully constructed rainbow wings fluttered gently in the last cool night air. She hated the Rainforest. It was humid, hot and dark.

Dignity wished her mother would have insisted they stayed somewhere else, but there was nowhere else for Dignity to go.

She was a hybrid. A hybrid with a big secret.

Father urged her not to tell anyone, not to show anyone, her big secret.

It was so hard.

All the time she thought, If I enchanted this, then it'd fix everything!

She was an animus, and she just wanted to fix everything. She wanted to make everyone get along and make the Rainforest less boiling and make dragons stop gawking at her as she flew past like she had just lit on fire and was now flying around with a smoke trail behind her.

But she couldn't, because apparently someone would find out and either try and kill her or use her.

Fun.

As Dignity glanced down the mountain, she saw a little blob at the bottom. It was blue, so she expected it was a RainWing, but as it began to climb, the fins and light-up patterns became more obvious.

Why was a SeaWing over here?

As the dragon neared, she could make out the cool, light blue of the SeaWing.. and.. his eyes.

His eyes were black with two white rings surrounding a little white dot she assumed were his pupils.

It was scary but also almost.. mesmerizing. She'd never seen a dragon like that before.
