Her hair was tossed into a pony-tail, bouncing along as she and her good friend, Peter Parker, played tag. She laughed wholeheartedly when he finally got her. She stopped, putting her hands on her knees fighting for breath.

“Time out! Time out,” she pleaded. She took a seat on the freshly mowed grass and started to pick the green from the earth. Peter joined her, crossing his legs and leaning back on his hands.

“Give up already?” he teased, pushing her shoulder. She glared at him when his push failed to move her. She sighed, returning to the grass in front of her.

“Where’s Harry?” She whispered. Harry Osborn, Peter and the girl’s other best friend, had been late for about an hour. She was starting to worry, considering he had a driver who was never late.

“He’ll be here! Don’t worry.” Peter turned towards the clouds, laying his back against the ground. She followed his actions, staring up at the sky through her innocent light blue eyes. The two sat like that for a while, pointing at the oddly shaped bunny, or upside down turtle. They started laughing when they found a cloud that looked like a killer duck (whatever that means), when a loud boom erupted from the house behind them. They shared a frightened look before the girl shot up from her lounging position to a full on sprint.

“Ruth!”Peter screamed, following behind her. Ruth didn’t listen and kept pounding her feet towards the door of her home. Three more loud booms were heard along with some screams. By that time she had made it to the screen door.

The sight was terrible. Her mother’s soulless body fell to the floor next to Ruth’s two older sisters. A cry of terror escaped Ruth’s throat when she saw a man in a suit holding a gun at her now dead family. When someone grabbed her from behind she almost fainted.

“Come on!” Peter yelled in a hushed whisper, pulling her along with him as they ran as far away from the house as possible. They finally reached their destination as sirens were heard in the distance. The welcoming neighbor’s door opened before the kind man grabbed the children and tried calming them down.

No matter what the police did Peter would not leave Ruth’s side. The cops asked question after question, not receiving any answers from Ruth. She stared at the white wall in front of her, not moving her gaze to anything else. Her light innocent eyes were now stormy, clouds constantly circulating her small pupils. After a long while she finally resulted in saying one last soft innocent question:

        “Where’s Harry?”
