"That dude always gave me the creeps. Just something unsettling about him, you know?" Ash shivered, rubbing her arms to rid them of the goosebumps forming.

"Shit, that's crazy. This guy needs to be caught. We can't live in a building with a murderer." I said, "That's obvious."

"Exactly why you need to get into Charley's room and find that toy." Larry glared at me.

I choked on my own spit. Sitting up straighter, I exclaimed, "Me? I broke into 403, why do I have to steal from the murderer?"

"Charley isn't too fond of me. There's no way he'd let me in. He accused me of stealing snacks from his room. Snacks! Fuckin' fatty!" Larry yelled, making me hold back a laugh.

"Charley's been scared of my mask ever since he watched that horror movie a few months ago."

"And he makes me want to gag. I can't go near him."

I sighed; The first day here and I've already got two things on the 'stupid shit i've done' list. "Alright, alright, I'll do it. I won't be able to sleep at night otherwise."

"Great, take this baggie so-."

"So I can take the toy without getting my fingerprints on it." I interrupted, "The last thing I need is to be framed for this. My mother would kill me." My voice was laced with sarcasm, while Larry stared at me oddly.

"What, have you done this before?" He asked, clearly not expecting a yes.

I simply smiled mockingly, "No, of course not. I'm a good child, Larry, I would never do anything like this." I will say, I got into a lot of trouble in my old town. A little B&E here, a little shoplifting there, and some scattered misdemeanors. But that isn't important, and I would never tell him any of that.

I stood straighter, "204 you said?"

Ash, who had looked put off by my answer, nodded. "Mhmm. When you find the toy, just bring it downstairs to the detective."

I slipped out of the room, skipping excitedly to the elevators. It's been a while since I did something like this. The anticipation of some good 'ol stealing almost made me forget about what I had seen in that apartment.

As I stepped onto the lift, I had no idea of the frustration ahead.

"She reminds me of you, Larry." Sal spoke. It's been about twenty minutes since you left to take the toy.

"You've got to be kidding me," Larry rolled his eyes, "What could we possibly have in common?"

Ash sat up a bit, clearly interested in what Sal had to say. "Well for starters," he said, "She doesn't believe in ghosts."

"I believe in ghosts," Larry retorted, "Ever since you showed me Megan I have."

"I mean, like, before that." Sal explained.

"Maybe if we showed her the super gear boy she would believe in them." Ash offered.

Sal shrugged, turning away from the two. Silence fell over the trio once again, each person returning to their respective entertainment.

"Do you think she's ok?" Ash questioned. "It's been half an hour, shouldn't she be done?"

"I'm sure she's fine," Larry grumbled, "Charley won't chase someone if they run. So, as long as she can move faster than the fat fuck everything's good."

"You wouldn't even care if she was hurt." She crossed her arms.

"You're right, I wouldn't."
