It was a cold frosty morning, my breath formed into a cloud of mist and drifted into the abyss. Shivers ran up and down my spine chilling me to the bone. No one’s about. I can’t hear anything but the sound of my own breath. There’s no birds. Nothing. Something doesn’t feel right, but I just shrugged it off. I stood up from where I was sitting and began to slowly walk across the frosty field. I had a feeling that someone was watching me, but there was no one about. I hastened my walk, and tried to cross the field as quickly as I could without running. I tripped on a clump of grass and tumbled down a slight hill. I lay there at the foot of the small hill catching my breath back. I heard footsteps getting closer to me, the crunching of the frosty grass. I jumped up quickly and looked about trying to see what had caused the footsteps. But no one was there. I started to panic, I grabbed my bag and ran. I didn’t stop running till I was at the other side. I slowed down as I neared the edge of the field. Is that a shadow? A figure in the dark? I took a step towards the figure but jumped back and fell over another clump of grass when a voice broke the silence. “What do you think you’re doing?” The disembodied voice yelled. I just sat there terrified. I couldn’t form the words to reply. “I’m speaking to you! Reply or else you will regret it!” The voice was distant yet so close. It sounded slightly mechanical or something like that, the voice would be speaking quietly almost a whisper but yet it would sound like it is yelling.
“I’m just trying to go for a walk.” My voice was trembling but I spoke loud and clear. The shadow just chuckled. As if I was lying. But I wasn’t, was I?
“Look here, you seem to seem to be the sort of person who acts like nothing affects you. But really every small tiny thing causes you pain. You’re weak and pathetic!” I sat there staring into the shadows trying to find a face to the thing that is talking. Is there a face to it.
“How am I the pathetic one when you’re the one hiding in the shadows? Not showing your face or who you are.” I yelled back at the thing. I shuddered. I’m not sure if it was the fact that I am scared or the fact that I am cold but I knew for a fact that I wanted to get away. I felt in danger.
“Your games won’t work on me boy. You don’t know who I am, nor do you want to. I will always be there haunting your every thoughts. You can’t escape and you can’t hide. I will always be there, following you around day and night. You are not safe anywhere. I will always be watching your every move.” A coldness ran down my spine, making me shiver. Was he being serious? It’s really like something from a nightmare.
“Why me? What do you want from me? I haven’t done anything to you. I don’t even talk to people. How does that make someone want to threaten me? I’m invisible to people I don’t exist to anyone. What do you want from me?” The shadow just laughed its mechanical distant laugh.
“You won’t believe me if I told you.” The shadow said. I don’t understand what it wants with me. I spend all my time in my room away from people. How does anyone know about me? The shadow was really starting to creep me out now, the thing was acting like he knew everything about me. How long had it been watching me? Was it going to hurt me? Or kill me? Thoughts were just streaming through my mind. While the voice just cackled. I wanted to escape. I had to run, didn’t I? “Don’t even think about running from me boy. You think that’ll work do you?” How did the voice know what I was thinking? I hadn’t spoken out loud, had I? “You can’t get away from me, so don’t bother trying. I know you want to but there is no hope in doing so. I’m in your head, in your brain. I can make you do what I want. I am not real. I am a voice in your head that your mind created. There’s no escaping me boy!” I didn’t believe what the voice, thing,  was saying. I just jumped up and ran. I clambered over the gate and onto the street. I just kept running. I glanced back to see darkness chasing me. Trying to trap me in the hell within. And a voice, swirling around in my head screaming, laughing, chanting; “You can’t run from me. I’m in your head.” I stumbled to the ground and the darkness engulfed me. All I could see was darkness and all I could hear was the hysterical laughter of the voice in my head. I curled up on the ground, closed my eyes and cried. I wanted it all to stop.
