Utopia?

The year is 2148, I like many others are lucky to live in these true golden ages of civilization as we all now live without fear of death, famine, disease and even war. You may be wondering how this happened, well I shall tell you. 100 years ago the earth was met with both it's near destruction and the tipping point to the great treaty signing, this was caused with the war to end all wars. Now that may seem a bit over-exaggerated since there had been two great wars before yet this one was truly the final war. At the ends of the war a treaty was signed the International Peace Agreement, or I.P.A. for short with this the world worked together, with no fear of each other the world worked together to solve the issues of mortality, conflict and illness of all kinds. It is truly a miracle of life that we are where we are now. Steven, my friend use to say there was something wrong, he would always say "Death exists" and "We are just puppets" but ever since he moved districts he has stopped his mad thoughts. Thank goodness he must have just been getting tired of seeing the same neighborhood each and every day. Luckily we get to move districts after living in one for 30 years. Oh I almost forgot to tell you in our civilization Utopia as it was accurately named we get to move districts every 30 years of living, I can't wait to move but for now I am 8 years away from being able to move districts. I almost forgot My name is Sam, Sam Thomas, I am 22 and I work as a history teacher. I teach the history of what was once our civilization and how the final war made what is possible now. It is a shame but during the final war all documentation was destroyed so no one really knows how it ended sometimes I even have horrible thoughts of if the war didn't end... But the medication I am on helps me clear my mind of unnecessary thoughts like that, after all I can't teach if my mind is cluttered and everyone works. Yes that's right there is absolutely no poverty in Utopia. You look around and all you see is a town of people or a district as we now say and of course the wall, I personalty Think a wall is unnecessary to keep track of who lives where but all I know is it would be fun to climb on, too bad the monitor field bugs out and shocks anyone who tries to climb the wall hopefully they can get that fixed sooner than later. I would love to tell you about the other districts but I haven't gotten to visit them but in 8 years I will get to.

This morning like many others starts off with my daily routine, wake up, get out of bed brush my teeth, have breakfast, take my medicine and go to work. I don't know what it is but this morning feels a bit off, I can hear a loud noise coming from outside so I walk outside to see a man by the fountain. The man seems to be yelling something, I have never seen this man before, he looks odd dressed in clothing made of a material I have never seen, it looks rugged like a tarp but the fabric looks brown and soft yet dirty. Mud stains? ...maybe. The more I examine what I see what I am seeing I notice what the man is saying in a muffled voice. I don't want to get too close as I have read about people like this throughout history, one's preaching of a better life but inevitably would end in violence and I do not want to take any chances. I took a notebook out and began writing what I heard down. From what I can make of his words he is saying "You are living a l..." Suddenly I look back up and he's gone. I look down at my watch and notice I am late for work. I rush out the door and head to work, once I get to work I notice something was off and then it hits me, I forgot to take my medicine. They say the medicine helps us focus and keeps us from getting mad at small things, but for some reason I feel even better, more focused and alert, maybe I have built up a tolerance to the pills. It would make sense due to me taking them since I was a child. One thing I find off, for some reason something in the air smells odd maybe someone's car had broke down, ya that must be it.

Finally back home, today felt a bit weird maybe I will talk to Steven online we use a digital chat room ever since he moved to the new district. The chat room isn't as fun as talking to him in person but the district wall that helps monitor how many people are in each district makes it so that we can't use voice chat or video call software with anyone outside of our district. Luckily we still have access to the news from the rest of the world as well as the TV shows we know and like, though it is odd how my favorite show seems a bit dull as if I've seen it before but on the bright side at least the news is always.. up.. to.. date? That is odd the news channel shows the date to to be the year 2050. I quickly message Steven about this and he replies moments after "It must just be a glitch in the system." I suppose that could be it. I'm lucky I get to speak to Steven, he always responds seconds after I message him like clockwork. He always seems to be on his phone, hopefully it doesn't affect his job he is an architect after all.

The nest morning.

I wake up to the weirdest smell, it smells like burning oil? This is odd because the oil based vehicles were removed to reduce unnecessary pollution a few years ago. I should go to my psychiatrist to talk about my medication, and yes psychiatrists do still exist in case there is any conflict, they give us our medication to reduce random busts of anger. Come to think of it I seem I am more curious today as well, I'll go now.

I make it to the hospital, take a number and wait to be called. You know we sure are lucky as these hospitals now work like clockwork. Actually maybe before I get new medication I will write down what I have noticed not taking my medication sort of like my own personal history. I get my notepad out and write what has happened and put it back in my pocket. After that I am called in I go into the room and wait for the psychiatrist, She comes in and asks "what have you come here for" to which I respond what has happened, she seems a bit shocked that I stopped taking my medication, then she leaves the room and comes back with a syringe and says "This will help you with your clear withdraw symptoms and I'll give you a new prescription." I take the shot to help me.

I woke up 2 hours later. "You seemed to have passed out, you must be afraid of needles." says the psychiatrist. That must be it by the way, remind me why I was getting a shot. "Don't worry you came here for your flue shot." she says. Oh I must have forgotten. "Here is the medication renewal you asked for." The psychiatrist says as she hands me a new bottle of my medication. Funny how I have been taking these pills sines I was a kid and they haven't bothered me once.

I get back home and notice something in my pocket. It's my notepad, why is it flipped open though? I read the note, but I don't remember any of this. Why don't I remember this? I'll Put this note despite it seeming to be just nonsense in my safe in case I forget it again, I will see it. I open my safe and see something shocking, A pile of notes fill the safe, some of which look to be stained with blood? I look through these notes, some say "I forgot my medicine today and feel great, I went to my psychiatrist to get new meds." and others say "DO NOT GO TO THE PSYCHIATRIST." and some even say "THE PSYCHIATRIST IS FAKE!!!" and worst of all says "Utopia isn't real." what does this mean? Why would I ever write this. Was it really me who wrote this?
