Waking up at 11am on a Sunday wasn't normal for me. Well, i had to get the day started soon, right?
I got up and immediately got my camera bag and headed out the door.
It was quite an empty neighborhood, the streets seemed completely rid of cars and people. I had to start shooting something, as I still have last minute homework to do thats due by tomorrow.
"Alrightyyy, lets see..." I said as i skimmed through my Journal of notes I took during Photography class.
" 'Take 70-100 shots of one rule of Photo composition' that can't be hard right?" I said to myself
It was since there was nothing to take photos of. Literally. But Photography was also my escape through life. Everything seemed kinda hard at this point with the failing grades of the start of Freshman year at high school, all the stress of making new friends as i could not stick with the old ones since they've already made new ones, also the upcoming heartbreaks and the actual heartbreaks. Everything seemed impossible to maintain the life I had. To me, it was pointless of living.
I started walking around the neighborhood with my camera ready to take the shot, flowers here, few cars there, nothing really out of the ordinary. As I walked through the empty sidewalk of the empty neighborhood, a lot of thoughts came into mind. Like, what if Riley was here?
Riley's a guy I've kept my eye on for a while. The one I'm starting to genuinely like most. It all started two weeks ago when he was in my Photography class. I've never really noticed him, but i did as he didnt know how to work a Mac.
*Two weeks before*
"Alright class! If everyone could take a seat and follow my instructions..." Mrs. Crea, our photography teacher, said
We all took our seats, some still talking, and some quiet.
"Your homework assignment for tonight is to research your favorite photographer and their photography style. Tomorrow you will pull up their website on your computer and leave it there so everybody can see. So if I were you I'd get started."
I started working immediately and thinking of which of my favorite photographer was. While a few seats on right, a guy had some trouble of how to open a tab. With a few people he asked also not knowing how to.
I smirked at how they didn't know. So i kindly said to his friend a couple of times which buttons to press. She directed me towards Riley to show how its done. I went over and demonstrated how to.
"..so you press command and then "t". Yep thats it."
"Oh thank you" he said with a medium to deep voice that kind of melted in my ears
"No problem" I said with a smile
But not only a few moments later where he had forgot what to do and i had to show him again.
After I did i went back to my seat and started working with intentions of slacking off. Not long after everyone around him except me and two other girls minding their own business, was alone. And of course he needed help again.
I went over to him and asked if he needed any help.
"Haha yea how do you email a teacher?"
I bent over and showed him hoping that I didn't look like a whore, and after I did he was somewhat excited. I laughed and went back to my seat.
The next day i was casually taking notes and turned my chair to the back left corner of the room where the projector was. As Riley claims he couldn't see very well, he brought his chair next to me. I smiled without looking up. It was just a moment i didn't want to end.
Thats when I started to grow this affectionate feeling that i haven't felt in a while, inside me. Thats when I started to notice his dumbfounded but funny personality, the way his hair was styled curved up, the way one dimple was always deepened than the other when he smiled, how his eyes sparkled brown and green.
It was no matter how hard i tried again to have that moment brought back and how i felt right there and then. That nothing could ever bring it back.
