Monticello was as quiet as any other normal Friday night with all staff making there way home to their families for the night. Thomas was left alone in the library, where he sat reading one of his thousands of books that not only filled up the numerous bookshelves, but created stacks all over the dark wooden floor. A soft tune emitted from his phonograph, which sat at the table with a single candle, illuminating the pages of Thomas' book with a warm glow as he read peacefully. Thomas hummed quietly along to the tune that played in a slightly worn way, tapping his foot against the ground where he had done so many times before. A light smile spread across his face as he heard the door open, a stream of light pouring into the room as Lafayette made his way in, his face the picture of exhaustion. "Mon amour, will you come to bed?" he murmured with a yawn, padding over to his lover who managed to tear his eyes away from his book to look up at him with soft eyes. "Soon, my dearest. I am on the last chapter." Lafayette pouted at that and huffed, climbing into Thomas' lap, making the slightly older man chuckle as he rested his head on his shoulder, tiredly scanning over the pages of his book. "You said you would be done by ten o'clock." Lafayette said, slightly slurred from sleepiness. "I said eleven o'clock." "It is midnight." Thomas chuckled and folded the corner of the page over and closed his book, setting it down on the table near the phonograph, listening as the song changed. "Would you like to dance with me?" Thomas asked softly, tucking a stray curl out of Lafayette's eyes behind his ear, who frowned and looked up at him. "I cannot dance, mon amour." "I'll teach you. Come on." Thomas grinned and gently scooted his lover from his lap, causing a sound of protest to emit from his mouth. As reluctant as he was, Lafayette got up from Thomas' lap and immediately wrapped his arms around him again as he stood up, cuddling into the warmth his body brought to him with a soft smile, hardly taking notice as Thomas linked their fingers together on one hand and wrapped another arm around his waist. "Just follow my lead." Thomas whispered to him and started to sway along to the music, moving his feet slightly and watching as Lafayette looked down, his tongue poking out as he tried to follow his footing. However, after only half a minute of dancing, Lafayette stopped and sighed, letting his head fall into his shoulder with a pout. "I cannot do it. I look ridiculous." "Stand on my feet." Thomas smiled, tilting his head as Lafayette looked up at him with a questioning expression. "On your feet?" He asked doubtfully, convinced his tiredness had taken affect on his hearing. "Yes, my feet." Thomas nodded and smirked. Lafayette shrugged lazily and gripped his shoulders, stepping up onto his feet and pressing their foreheads together. "What now?" He murmured, looking deeply into Thomas eyes as his own fluttered. "Now, my love, we dance." Thomas grinned and turned the music up louder, starting to sway at first and then started to ballroom dance around the library with Lafayette clinging to him and giggling in his ear as he moved around, making sure that his feet stayed put on the tops of Thomas'. Thomas chuckled at his lover as small laughs and amused noises came from his lips, which were spread into a smile that could light up any room in his darkened house. With a mischievous grin, Thomas put his hands firmly on his waist and lifted him above his head so he was parallel in the air. Lafayette shrieked unexpectedly as he was lifted and gripped desperately at his shoulders. "Thomas!" he squealed, trying to remain still knowing that if he moved both he and Thomas would fall. Thomas smiled up at him and gave him a reassuring look, feeling the hands on his shoulders tighten. "Let go, my love. I've got you. I promise." he chuckled, causing Lafayette to smile slightly. Slowly, Lafayette's hands relaxed on his shoulders and eventually lifted them off, squeezing his eyes shut with a wince, expecting to fall immediately, but was surprised when nothing at all happened. Cracking an eye open, Lafayette looked down at his lover, who was smiling adoringly up at him, his arms not wavering in the slightest as he held him up high. Lafayette soon matches his expression and giggled, keeping his body straight and reaching down to cup Thomas' face in his hands, skimming his thumbs over his cheeks and pouting as Thomas slowly lowered him back down to the floor. "See? I told you i wouldn't let you fall." He grinned and leaned forward to kiss his cheek gently. Lafayette smiled at this and wrapped his arms around his neck. "Will you teach me how to dance? Suddenly, i'm not so tired anymore." A smirk spread across Thomas' face as he nodded, pressing a quick kiss to his waiting lips and wrapping his own arms around his waist. "Of course, my dove. It would be my honour." (Welp 877 words *dies*)
