Personality
Anyone could tell that Colin has some issues he needs to work out. Somebody has clearly hurt the boy, and he clearly didn't handle it well.
Colin doesn't want anybody to hurt the way he does, so he's always there to comfort others however he can. This usually comes in the form of a life altering hug, accompanied by soft assurances and gentle advice. Pretty much what he needs himself.
Inappropriately timed humor is Colin's bread and butter. If somebody were to make his own funeral into an open mic comedy show, he'd clap from beyond the grave and boo anybody who tried to stop them.
Oddly, when Colin is scared, he'll start singing the Mario theme. The more aggressive the 'dos', the more scared he is.
