Once Upon a time, Sephora, the princess from the kingdom of Roosevelt, got cursed by the evil witch, the princess got teleported to Seattle. Sephora thought this place was strange and she did not want stay. In order go back to her loyal subjects she must teach the IB bio kids about meiosis until they understand.

The princess began by explaining interphase. Immediately Anne raised her hand, she asked "what is interphase?" The princess soon found out why the witch cursed her with this project. It's impossible to make them understand, but she continued with her princess smile.

She explained that Interphase I is growth and duplication of chromatids in the cell, creating sister chromatids, like how her kingdom expands every year in land size.

Next is prophase this is the princess's favorite step. Prophase I is when chromatins condense and the chromosomes pair up with each other based on the gene. The chromosomes are going to line up with their homologous pair. What homologous means is that the chromosomes are about the same size and contain the same type of genes in the same location. The non-sister chromatids cross over by exchanging DNA, where they transfer their genetic information between each other. The princess imagined her future treaty. She would have to shake hands with the prince of the kingdom of Nathan Hale, and switch rings, showing trust and loyalty between the two kingdoms. Like how in crossing over, the chromosomes switch parts of their DNA.

During metaphase I, spindle microtubules move homologous pairs to the equator of the cell. They are aligned in a random orientation of paternal and maternal chromosomes. This is similar to when the princess went to a ball and everyone was wearing a mask. Everyone was paired up, standing randomly in two lines, looking at each other and talking in pairs, but she got catfished by a commoner named Josiah, who she thought was the prince.

Then, the princess explained to the class anaphase I. She explained how the pair of chromosomes are pulled apart from each other to opposite poles. Like how at the ball she soon found out the catfish was actually cute with a great personality. So, they fell in love, but the king didn't approve for she has to married the prince of Nathan Hale. So the king sent Josiah to the kingdom Lakeside and therefore they were on opposite sides.

Next is telophase I and cytokinesis, telophase is when the cell decondense and cytokinesis is the cells pinch in the middle begging to split apart and a new nuclear membrane forms. This reminded her of her past before the curse. The land of roosevelt and the land of lakeside had a horrible accident. The king of Roosevelt begged the witch to send an earthquake in the middle of Roosevelt and Lakeside the land began to pinch and crack.

Next is prophase II, which is when the centromeres connect to the chromosomes. After the earthquake everyone was lost so the guard helped guide the citizens of Roosevelt. They made everyone hold hands with each other so they wouldn't get lost. On their way back to the palace, they all had to pass a river. So, for safety they all had to hold hands and be in one line to cross safety over it. Similarly to how in metaphase, the chromosomes are lined up in a single file line in the middle of the cell.

The witch cast a spell on the kingdom of Roosevelt to have a tornado separate everyone to different direction of the kingdom like how in anaphase II the chromatids are separated to opposite poles in the cell. They were in the dark so they didn't notice that there were pirates near them. The pirates were all working for the witch. The pirates kidnapped all of them and place them in four different dungeons.

Out of nowhere, the evil witch popped up in the IB bio class when she was Done explaining. She looked at the princess and said "I'm sorry your father put me up to this, but to repay you I will send you back and I will give you the power of meiosis, so you can have kids. Also, you can go marry Josiah the commoner and I'll marry the prince for you." "Wow thanks."

Anne, ruining the moment, asked, "This is nice and all but uh what's the difference between meiosis and mitosis?" The princess began to speak and said there are a few differences. "Well, mitosis only has one cell division and meiosis has two cell divisions. Mitosis ends with two daughter cells and meiosis ends with four daughter cells. Mitosis ends with diploid daughter cells, cells with two sets of chromosomes, and meiosis ends with haploid daughter cells, mitosis goes through interphase, prophase metaphase anaphase and telophase once and meiosis goes through the process twice, meiosis creates gametes, also known as sperm and egg cells, mitosis creates identical body cells like skin and stomach cells. Mitosis is important for growth and replacing worn out cells. Meiosis is a process that contributes to genetic variety.

"Wow, thanks princess Sephora! Even though I don't completely understand it, me and my two brain cells understand it 1% better now!" Anne said
