Oh good, another terrifying story . What's the deal with you and toilets, Japan?

In this tale, Hanako-san is the ghost of a young girl who haunts the girls' bathroom at Japanese public schools. She can be found in the third stall in the restroom on the third floor. Schoolchildren whisper instructions on how to conjure her: you have to knock on the door of her stall three times, call her name, and ask if she's there.

At this point, local legends vary about what she does. Sometimes she pulls you into the toilet. Sometimes she just yells and frightens you. Her M.O. seems strictly "scare the living sh*t out of young girls," though, so, um, at least she won't murder you like Aka Manto?
