When I first opened my eyes, what I saw was not faces of pure delight and joy, but those of terror and horror beyond compare. My parents, the nurses and doctors were appalled. I didn't know why. I found out the reason myself when I saw myself in the mirror. Instead of a human resembling my parent's looks, I was too different.
My father is a lawyer, smart and witty, but he often works out. With broad shoulders, perfect abs, and a muscular body, he was considered one of the most handsome men in our whole town. My mother, was simply stunning, beautiful, a goddess on earth. She was a doctor, kind and caring, with hands so soft and fragile, yet so careful, never making a mistake. As a surgeon and doctor, she has saved countless lives; and the people knew her and loved her. The only difference is their eyes. One was a bright, vibrant green, stern and serious, but hid a sparkle in them. The other, azure blue eyes like the ocean, tender and kind, but they could swallow you whole, drowning you in feelings and emotions.
They were both perfect in every way this society ever wanted. Soft blonde hair like straws of pure gold. Perfect tanned, caramel brown skin, and perfect bodies.
Blessed with these gifts, my parents were the perfect model citizens, both in attitude and looks.
I was unlike them. My hair: Glossy, raven black hair, as black as midnight; my irises: Pitch black like the black hole, sucking up all light till none was left, not even a hint; my body: Thin and scrawny, yet born with skin as pale as moonlight.
Nobody in my town, or in my country, was like me. I was special, unique, but in other's eyes, I am a bad omen. They called me the cursed child, or child of the dark. They said I would bring my family bad luck, because of my appearance.
I was drowning. Drowning in despair, unhappiness, and self-pity. Those words are like quicksand, the more I try to shrug them off, or struggle my way out, more would trap me, holding me down, until somebody would come and save me. Those people were my parents.
