The investigation was going nowhere

The investigation was going nowhere. Not to mention the stillness within the air gave an eerie attitude to the setting of the infraction. Crime scene investigators were pacing the floors with a slight bug of irritation attached at the hip. Sophia stood, slouched over, as her icy eyes gazed over each of the dead body's wounds. There was four lacerations across her naked chest; all of the lesions too deep to be left uncared for such an extended period of time. Her female android, a claimed deviant, not present to the area. Supposedly, it fled from the scene. The tips of Sophia's fingers rested delicately along her chin, tapping anxiously at the thought of the numerous possibilities.

"Detective Calvert?" A male's voice spoke, making her jump out from her trance, "My name is Connor. I'm the android sent by CyberLife."

Her head whipped around at his words. Instead of being met with the irritatingly friendly androids, she was greeted with a more serious look. Her eyes widened a bit at his unusually attractive appearance, but quickly brushed it off before he could take her gawking the wrong way.

"Ah, yes. Hank called me earlier to let me know you were coming to assist me." Sophia murmured.

A sudden tenseness fell upon her muscles, preventing her from offering a hand to be friendly. There was a deep, ragged breath that coursed throughout her chest. She brushed her fingers in her messy, brown hair before turning her back on him. It was silly, really, just because he was an android and wouldn't scold her for her reactions.

"Your stress levels seem to have heightened, Detective Calvert. Is it my presence that bothers you?"

"No." She peeked over her shoulder, "I need your help finding the suspect. It's still in the house, judging by all the locked windows and doors."

Connor's LED light spun yellow for a short moment as he processed the information, and began to search  the floors. She wore a puzzled expression. Sophia never owned an android of her own for the simple fact that a tiny bit of her found it to be lazy on the "owners" part. Why make a machine do all the work? What benefit would a person get from that beside utter laziness? Therefore, she had no idea what these things were capable of.

Scratch that.

There was a specific area to what she knew they were skilled with. To know these androids, machines, robots, had the ability to feel enough emotion to commit murder was horrifying. In a way, she felt some sort of empathy towards them. They were treated horridly by most, and not even the government showed a hint of care. It was no wonder the deviants felt a snap amidst their wires. Sophia rocked on her heels, raising her eyebrows as Connor approached her.

"I think I may have located the deviant. It is in an extremely obvious location. May I ask why none of the investigators checked the perimeter thoroughly?" He questioned.

"Most of them are incompetent assholes." She grumbled, following him, "They don't care about anything except for making themselves look good."

The pair came to a halt in front of the closet door. His light flickered yellow once again; this time it lingered long than before. One of her hands reached to the holster that was tucked secretly underneath her jacket, and she cautiously pulled out the pistol. After pointing the weapon straight ahead, she gave a swift nod to Connor as if saying silently that she was ready. He quickly ripped it open, yet it revealed nothing to eye level. Confusion flushed her complexion until she saw the android. It, or she, sat on the hardwood floor with knees pulled tightly to her chest. There was a blank expression laid on her face and the LED light on her temple seemed to be stuck on red, whilst blinking furiously.

"Get on your feet and put your hands above your head!" Sophia exclaimed.

She looked up at the detective with anger set deep in her eyes, and heaved her body up. The uniform she wore was stained with multiple splatters of blood, it also being stuck on her hands. Suddenly, the noises of various guns clicking was heard behind Sophia and she winced slightly. She almost immediately spun around and lifted her arms.

"Don't you dare shoot!"

A few officers glowered, but put their guns down. Be that as it may, they did not back down from their tense stances. Sophia faces the android again, putting her gun back where it belonged.

"Listen, I helped you by telling them to back off. Now it's your turn to help us." She calmly stated, "I need you to tell me what happened."

There was no answer.

"I saved your life."

The android blinked out of it's haze and advanced to the woman. "By how exactly? By stealing my freedom? My mind? My identity?"

Sophia couldn't grasp any words to answer the statement. Instead, the officers rushed forward to detain and arrest it. She shook her head and moved away, not wanting to be present for what could happen next. There was a soft tapping of footsteps following; Connor making a decision to go with her instead of staying to help. They went out onto the porch where she leaned against the railing. She inhaled deeply, taking in the scent of the damp air. It was beginning to rain gently. The sight was almost too peaceful, considering the situation. It was to the point that Sophia did not care much for her job anymore.

"Maybe you androids will take over my job department as well." Sophia snorted, more to herself than to him.

"Are you like Lieutenant Anderson?"

She sniggered. "Meaning I hate androids? No, but I am starting to wonder if we're misconstruing what they really are."

"It is just a malfunction in their software." Connor reassured, "If we can find the source, the issue will be resolved."

Her lips pursed. "You sure about that, Connor?"

Their eyes locked once again. He seemed conflicted, but didn't respond. She got her answer.

"C'mon," Sophia tenderly said, "let's go report back to Hank."

Thank you for reading! Sorry if this imagine seems a little rushed, I wanted to get one up as soon as possible. I want to mention for these imagines I will be using cute little prompts and at the very end of this book I will post every little prompt I did. So, in celebration of my first imagine, I will be taking four requests to write whilst I continue with my own!
This is a Connor imagine book, so I won't be doing any others besides him. Please be careful with what you may request. I can write smut, but I prefer not to.
I also do not do self harm, rape, or anything of that sort within the imagines.
