my name is roselynn O'Brien I am thirteen years old and am from Belfast. it is april 9th 1912. tomorrow is the day I will be leaving my home. to live with my aunt and uncle in new York. my mother has become gravely Ill and has a slim chance of making it. so she wants to make sure I am living with the right people..the next day when I get up I go to my mother's side and say goodbye as this will be our last time together. I turn to leave but before I can go I hear her weakly say. "I love you" and then all is quite. I know what has happened. I give her a hug knowing she is not there. "mama" I manage to say. as I am getting forcefully carried out of the room by to doctors. all I can think is why did this have to happen. first I lost my father to famine now this. I leave and start walking towards the docks. from a distance I can see the ship that will be taking me to my new life. it's huge I think to myself. I reach into my bag and pull out the small ticket that says 1st class passenger. and I bored the ship. while I'm walking around I look at how beautiful the boat is. I walk a bit till I come across my room. when I walk in I see a queen sized bed fitted with a vibrant red bed set. and a small table with three chairs surrounding it. the room itself is painted a warm brown. and has a picture frame with a small picture of a waterfall. I take walk over to the dining room to see kenneth Nelson. a boy I go to school with "hello kenneth" "hello roselynn it's nice to see you here. aboard the Titanic...what brings you here" "I'm going to new York to live with my aunt and uncle...what about you".  "im going to a school there" the rest of the night was calm. since there weren't very many children in the first class. the next few days past and kenneth and I got to know one another better. but one day was different we were all woken up. and told to get our floatation devices on and to go onto the main deck. when I got up there I had seen what the problem was. we had hit an iceberg. people were everywhere there were crew getting as many people as they could onto the lifeboats. woman and children first they said. where is kenneth I thought. I ran away trying to find him and realised he was trying to help a little girl about the age of three who was Trapped in rising water. when he got to the girl he helped her get over to where I was standing so she wouldn't still be in the freezing cold water. the three of us then ran back up onto the main deck. and seen there was only one boat left I got in line "get her onto the boat" I pleaded. "don't let her die" the crew member listened and let both of us on. there was only room for one more person. and luckily that was kenneth. watching what was once the most beautiful unrealistic thing sink into the cold ocean was like a nightmare that you couldn't wake up from. around five hours later we were rescued by the carpathia and taken to new York. the little girl said her name. was aggie. she never did find her parents but she did come to live with me my aunt and my uncle. many years passed and it is now 1930 I will never forget that dreadful week the one I lost my mom and almost my life but if it hadn't been for kenneth saving aggies life or my aunt and uncle letting her live with us. I don't think I would ever know what it would be like to see the happiness of giving someone hope. that's why now I work as a therapist so I can help people who have gone through a horrible time in their life and to give them support comfort and maybe even a glimpse of hope. like aggie was given.
