"I can't believe you're sending me to Korea!" I screamed at my mom and dad, blood boiling with anger as I turned around to walk away but my dad stopped me.
"Lisa, we're sorry that we couldn't tell you earlier but it's already decided," he looked at me with pleading eyes and mom started to cry.
"I'm so sorry sweetie, I don't want to send you away," she said sobbing. She hugged me and my vision became blurry as I struggled to not start crying when I hugged her back.
"You don't have to you know," I broke the hug and looked at dad, tears now flowing down my cheeks. His eyes were filled with tears, he just opened his arms and both me and mom hugged him, all three of us crying. And we stayed like that until the tears stopped coming.
It was my last day today. I decided not to tell any of my friends that I were transferring until the last class. It was English with my favourite teacher Marita. I asked her to tell my classmates after the lesson finished.
"Okay class that's it for today, pack up your things," Marita started to erase the board while all the students packed their things. "I have an announcement to make," the class sighed, they probably thought they were going to get homework or something, I couldn't help but to smile at the thought, "Shosh, everyone quiet!" Marita finally got the class's attention again "Lisa is transferring to Korea tomorrow,"
"WHAT!" the whole class screamed. My friends looked at me in terror. Seeing their reaction I started to doubt my desision to not tell my friends that I was moving.
"You're joking right?" My best friend Matilda grabbed my shoulder.
"I wish that I were," I looked at her and tried to smile but ended up crying instead.
"Don't do this to me! How can you leave me?" She said crying, and hugged me. Many of my close friends started crying too and the whole class joined in on the hug. I couldn't believe it was my last day. My friends and I stayed in school for many hours to say our last goodbyes, and then I walked home, not feeling much at all.
"Goodbye Mom, Dad. I love you, I will come home and visit."
"Ooh I love you too sweetie, be safe," mom hugged me one last time before I turned around and walked into the airport.
It was easy to find my flight and when I finally landed in Korea, it was safe and sound. "Maybe I won't have to wait for my luggage too long," I thought to myself, I mean everything was going so smoothly. I was wrong. After waiting for one and a half hours I finally had all my bags. I, to my big delight, found a cab in just five minutes and the cab driver was very nice. When we arrived at my new school he even helped me carry some of my bags to the dorm. As we were walking we meet some people and they were all looking at me, some with their eyes wide open. I locked eyes with a boy sitting by a window, he looked bored and one of his brows rose as if asking what I was looking at. I quickly looked away. When I thought about it, it wasn't that weird that people were looking at me. I was quite tall in Korea, standing 169 cm tall, I also had long blond hair and big green eyes. It was a common appearance back in Sweden, and most of my friends there were about the same height as me so I hadn't thought about it.
"Thank you very much," I said the taxi driver a big smile when we arrived at the dorm. "You made my day!"
"Nah, don't worry about it, I couldn't let a cute girl like you carry all those bags alone," he smiled at me and then walked away. Icould feel my blush on my cheeks, I really wasn't used to being called cute. I walked to what looked like the girl's dorm reception, a lady that looked to be in her forties sat there watching her computer screen.
"Hello," I said shyly and she looked up.
"Oh, hello dear. You must be Lisa the new transfer student?"
"Yes," I felt the heat rising up my neck. Why was I blushing? It's not like anything embarrassing was happening.
"Oh, shy are we?" She smiled at me and continued "No need for that dear. I'm Ms.Kim and I take care of the dorm and now also you. If you ever need something like a pen or advice," she stopped for a second and winked at me. I couldn't help but to smile. "Please don't hesitate to come see me, I view myself as a very wise person," I giggled a bit, I already liked her.
"Thank you, I will," I smiled brightly.
"Oh! I almost forgot your key, you will be staying in room 17 and your roommate's name is, let's see..." she started to look for a name on a list. "Jihye," she gave me the key to my room and also my schedule. I thanked her and took my bags too my room.
I got in and dropped my bags on the floor. The room was so big! There was a medium size living area and a small kitchen, plus two doors which I guess led to my and... Jihye's rooms. I had been expecting to share a small room with one person, and a kitchen with all the people from my floor. I opened one of the doors and found a relatively small room. There was a window, a bed, a drawer and a desk.
I looked at my clock it was only four in the afternoon but I was exhausted. I decided to as quickly as possible unpack my stuff and then go to sleep. After one and a half hours I was finally done and was just about to go to bed when I heard the door open. I sighed. I really wanted to sleep but I had to say hi to my roommate. I opened the door and walked out to greet the person standing there. The person standing by the door which I assumed was Jihye was busy taking off her shoes when she noticed me. Her face lit up and a bright smile spread across her face, she threw her shoe to the side and ran to me.
"Aaaaah~ I'm soooo happy! You won't believe how boring it is to live alone," she screamed as she swung her arms around me, pulling me in for a hug. Startled from her action, I couldn't really think straight but hugged her back as she continued. "Your name is Lisa right? Ms.Kim told me yesterday that I would finally get a roommate," she ended the hug and took a few steps back. She scanned my body looking up and down like crazy.
"Ehmm... Nice to meet you, I'm Lisa and you must be Jihye right?"
"Yes," she smiled, "I'm sorry if I sound like a creep, but I just have to tell you. You're really pretty"
"Thank you," I blushed at her comment and took the chance to get a good look at her. She looked to be around the same height as me(a big relief). She had shoulder length black hair, almond shaped dark brown eyes and her skin was very fair, which her black hair nicely brought forth. She was really pretty and her smile revealed her white teeth. "You're also really pretty," I smiled and I could tell that we would become great friends.
"Oh, thank you~," she smiled and a small blush appeared on her cheeks. "But girl, you look exhausted. Go get some sleep, I'll wake you up tomorrow," she turned me around and lightly pushed me towards my door. I looked at her from my doorstep and thanked her before going to my bed. I fell asleep immediately.
