Devil's Story

Chapter one

It was a long day at work and Lilith was exhausted from just sitting in her office chair all day, smooshed in her tiny office cubby. Now she's walking down the shabby hall towards her shabby apartment door that leads to her humble abode. Lilith flung her bag farther up her shoulder as she pulled out her keys and jammed them into the keyhole of her door. As she swung open her door she used her free hand to flip on the light switch on the wall beside her and flung her bag on her kitchen table. She started walking down the hallway to her bedroom when she froze. Out of the corner of her eye she caught the round clear case with the deep red roses flowing out of it. Cautiously, she walked closer to them and picked up the card attached to the neck of the case. No name was found on either side of the little white slip of paper. In a slight panic Lilith looked around her empty looking, dark apartment and jogged to the door making sure it was securely locked. She did the same with every window in her house. After calming herself down she went to her room and checked her closet and even under her bed to make sure it was clear. Locking her bedroom door, Lilith changed into pajama shorts and an oversized T-shirt and climbed into bed.
