I took my time selecting a book. Today I was in a mood for romance. Probably because the campus was teeming with couples. I was swept along with the sweet scent of love.
I read the synopsis printed on the back of the books. I put a lot of them back as the storyline didn't click with me. Finally I came across an interesting one. A simple romance between two young adults.
I then made my way to my usual spot in the library. I plopped my bag on the empty chair and took out my video camera. I felt insecure on not checking for it was a while. There was always this nagging doubt that I didn't have it with me.
I looked at the guy who sat across me. His name is unknown to me yet he is not a stranger. No matter what day I come I always find him on the seat opposite to mine or rather I always sit opposite to him.
He was beautiful. His wispy platinum blonde bangs framed his green eyes perfectly. I looked at the cover of his book. One of Marcus Zusak's works. He had a good taste in fiction. I always imagined him to be your typical college student, judging by his young and fresh face. However, I knew for sure that he didn't attend my college. I wasn't brave enough for his name nor affiliation.
We would spend our time silently immersed in books. I stole glances at the attractive individual. My heart fluttered everything I looked up, worried I would be caught. As time went by quickly as it always did. It was time to leave. I was always the first to leave. Bidding him a silent goodbye I left the library.
As I walked down the busy sidewalk, I felt a bitter feeling gnaw my conscience. I felt absent-minded. It then struck me. MY VIDEO CAMERA!
I had left it at the library. Without a single thought I spun around and retraced my tracks with haste. Panic flooded my mind along with bitter memories. Anything but that.
As I reached the steps of the library, I noticed my blonde companion. He waved at me. I bit my lip and approached him. In his hands was my camera. He gave it to me.
"Thanks a lot..." I trailed off in hope for his name.
"It's alright," he said. His voice was nonchalant. The blonde didn't give me his name.
"But really thank you. This is really important to me," I stuck out my hand."I'm (Y/N) by the way"
He shook it and searched my eyes for something."Ash. Ash Lynx"
I cannot express how I felt at that moment. Looking back, this was the moment my little interest in Ash grew into something more. Later on, I would fall for the lynx.
