Fear.
It is among the most crucial building blocks of society. It is everywhere. Even in our homes, the very place we are meant to feel safe. Truthfully, it is avoidable by no man. Even the strongest of us find ourselves victim of its dehumanitizing properties. Sometimes by those we love the most. It is the vulnerability of love that allows this to sink in among the strongest of bonds. Leaving the deepest wounds. This ability, however, serves a purpose. One that lies stagnant, untouched throughout the human life. It burns bridges, and builds walls between relationships. It leaves permanent damage, that can never be restored.
It is fear that destroys us as a species. Our fear prevents us from becoming the best that we can be. It is instilled in us by family members, friends, even acquaintances that you meet briefly on the street. That is how it becomes implanted in the heart, where it can spread to the mind, and eventually...the soul. It is easily enough to drive an individual mad. To rip away the very thing that makes us human.
Fear can cost a person their ability to trust. How can one place faith in another if they are not capable of such acts. Fear allows paranoia to set in. The fear of betrayal, or having been deceived. It can eat you alive. It can suck the life out of every relationship you hold the keys to. A relationship is nonexistent if you are incapable of trusting each other, as trust is the foundation for success. Or so it should be.
Fear has the ability to snatch ones dreams from their fingertips. Fear can most easily be instilled by those that we love the most. For example, it is natural for a parent to have expectations for their child. However, even despite these desires they are compelled to support the personal ambitions of their child throughout their life.
It is when a parent begins to enforce their original expectations for their child's life, when fear begins to settle in the heart. That child is now deathly afraid of disappointing their parents, the people who have been set in place by the name in the sky to guide them, and council them. The child, so fearful of not being the person their parent wants them to be, gives up every dream and ambition they hold in their heart. An act that is purely categorized as done of love and obedience for their parent.
This is how fear wages its war on humanity. It manipulates its way into the hearts of the innocent through human vulnerabilities. It then eats its way into the unexpecting mind, planting doubt, and blind faith. Destroying any trace of happiness as a result. And once we begin to have faith in our healing, we discover the aftermath.
Fear's calling card. It leaves such damage on the soul of an individual, that they doubt the intentions of everyone around them. They are no longer certain of who is, and is not, friend or foe. This is the result of fear. This is the effect that it has on the sanity of a person. And unfortunately for humanity, it is the foundation of which our society was built upon.
